So grateful for the breezy day yesterday, which dried out the remaining grass sufficiently for me to get a cut done. :T(I didn't say 'final cut' because I know darned well that it won't be!)

Still tweaking the barns, but they are done to a stage where the wood we store in them will stay dry. However, I'm conscious that our supposed furniture storage area isn't sorted yet, nor bird/bat proof. That's waiting for someone else to fit a big main door, which is frustrating, because I could probably do it, were it not contentious to 'take over' in their absence. Family politics! :(

I'm really waiting on Pete too, who shows no sign of coming to cut hedges, move soil or put fences in. I know everybody is flat out around here getting the maize in, but I don't think he has any of that.

Hope the early bugs laying some of you low are overcome this coming week and that choille finally eliminates or relocates that rare but destructive creature...... :)

Finally, checked with horse lady and the barn conversions now have a completely different address from us. Hurrah! :j

Should have tidied hanging shelves before snapping ( over eager to show Alfie ).

The rug conceals all sorts of horrors.....and doesn't conceal them elsewhere, but while I don't love the rug it works incredibly well colour wise in that room, ( better than I had hoped in fact) and will help keep us warm and hide some atrocities. :).

    Improvement, huh?

    Morning all,

couldn't sleep last night, was coughing all night.. my chest has having it now....its really doing my head in now... need to change what I am taking now, from cold/flu tabs to cough/chest medicine... I haven't had something like this for a long while...

right off to try and drink my cuppa

Mine ended up as bronchitis, CTC. May be best to get checked over just in case. No point getting worse & being laid up.

Thanks, rhiwie. The pills seem to be working gradually. Doc's again next week.

oh my gosh ! that looks great ....and compared to the luxurious carpet you had..;)

i always feels sad that so many houses have fabulous hidden features that all got hidden during the "tv mad decorating shows" era's....

the area outside my house is today a watering hole point for about 2.000 cyclists on a macmillan ride...bimble is having a field day [scrounging and doing tricks ;) ]

    damp and drizzly here today.
  • Alfie that bike ride has come around quick

ITSME... I think its heading that way...sooooo many people have got it around here...

LIR I love the look.. I think Alfie is so right.. with these make over programmes, why don't they do them, showing you the rustic look, and making good use of the actual construction of the house..

Hubby is still in bed:cool:, but he hasn't been feeling great either, plus he deserves a lazy-ish day today.. will call him soon though.

looks as though its bye bye again to the cheap fruit/veg the new fruit and veg manager is being arsey again ( it was her that hiked the prices up before, when we stopped buying it) We got told it was going to go up last night, so will go in and tell them today, we don't want it, as it will be too expensive for us to buy it for the pigs..

Been seriously looking into 'that' wacky idea... and it isn't as 'wacky' as first thought... it will take a long while to get off the ground, but the costs are very minimal, which will suit us down to the ground...

    Piddling it down here.....

I'm not sure a make over program had much to do with this house, lol. We like the ecclectic slightly neglected look contrasted with really ott or odd pieces of furniture or furnishings. Our house things that people say ...thats really very him, or oh i remember when she did that for a living, rather than stylish things out of magazine type house. A place where WE feel at home,

Its a flattering shot. There are some really big holes and cracks. We still prefer it and we can replace the worst boards.
  • Blimey. Just for a change you've all got the rain & we haven't :j ...... yet. Cold, though.

Looks good, LIR. We had all our carpets taken up years ago so upstairs is all wooden floors including some rooms 'original' but others completely relaid with wider than normal boards like the old ones. Downstairs is all stone or slate.

Fabulous! I'd love wider than normal boards! We have one original floor with wide boards.....in the secret room under the bathroom, so no one will see them, lol! Though we are going to have those boards as the ceiling for the room below we think. It means losing the ceiling lights in there and its a narrow room so we are a little wary of wall lights in there.

No rain here, but I'm expecting it any time now.

Moved the laurels I planted between us and the thatcher's mess a few months ago. I saw his weed collection included bindweed, so now there's a metre gap between his fence and our laurels. ;)I'll lay weed membrane in that and just keep the fence clear. :)
  • why do cough and chest medicine taste soooo_pale__pale__pale_

    knat's wee wouldn't even taste that bad:eek::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
