Oh poor you.
I have a cold, and mine started with head and shivers, then temp and throat.. Its a cold not a flu, :)but it starts with a bang.

I'm sorry to hear you're both 'one degree under,' to use an expression from the past.
Anyway, you've reminded me that I've been invited to have my old person's flu and pneumonia jabs. That's a first, but I'm not sure I'm delighted.
They could have enclosed the winter fuel allowance while they were at it.
...And maybe a wee sub on my pension would be good too!:rotfl:
Oh, yes, we'll soon be rolling in it at Snave Acres, so perhaps I'd better get along and have my jabs. By then, they'll be locking me up for a week in a small room with 25 others (when the Panto season starts.) It wouldn't do if I did a Tommy Cooper on them. :eek:0 -

My bus pass, as yet unclaimed, wouldn't get me far as the rural bus services have all been withdrawn
. We're ok atm as we can drive to town but I know how important bus services can be to both the elderly and to the young.
It's just yet another cutback in today's difficult times and leaves me keen to be as independent as possible of government support, which just cannot be relied upon even if needed.0 -
I went for a walk today and I was really saddened to see the amount of litter that was blowing about the streets
why are some people so careless of their surroundings. In some of the shopping streets that whole area was covered in chewing gum and cigarette butts.
On a cheerier note my pots are filled with flowers and they are lovely to look atI have also been enjoying my lush lawn
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
morning all,
feel s though I haven't slept for a week... these shows/events really do know how to take it out of you..
grey and damp here, but quite warm really..
on an economy drive, so going to make sarnies for us in work today... Ham salad with coleslaw.. made with bakery bread..( which I had sliced, otherwise it would be like door steps:D)Work to live= not live to work0 -
Dreich here and blowy with it, so I don't think I will get much building done today. Yesterday I started filling in the big doorway in the front of the refurbed-barn, but as with all these things, the planning, setting up etc took the bulk of the time. Won't take long once the weather lets me.
Rummer, Devon used to be very litter-free, but like everything else the cut backs have hit, so there aren't so many council litter-pickers about on the roads. Litter breeds litter, so we try to keep the 250m of road beside us here clear of major stuff. If we don't, we can soon be picking up a sack full!0 -
Blimey. It's sunny here so maybe you'll be able to get your stuff done soon, Dave.
Yes, in the country if you want it keeping clear, clean & tidy you just get on & do it.
I remember when .....( cue for 'nostalgia' music) ....... everyone took care of the section of pavement, if there was one, outside their house. The women would be outside each day sweeping down & swilling off. It's still the same in some places abroad but not a widespread thing here now.
What was the name of the stuff some people put on their doorsteps? The doorstep equivalent of blacking the range.
Now, as with so many things, it seems most people expect it done for them.0
