If you fancy a smile the HYS on the BBC website about running out of cemetery space is one of the most entertaining I have read for a while. Just sort by highest rated
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24283426
You can see how much space your local authority has left. St Edmundsbury only has 4-5 years left which is surprising considering we are surrounded by arable land round here.
The BBC have now amended their news story but originally they said that in 2012 74% of people in the UK were cremated which resulted in some amusement on HYS.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Sympathies about MIL Rhiwfield. It's a difficult time.
CTC - hard work for you but it will be a change! Do you take a mix of stuff? It will be quite social - possibly.
Thanks for all sympathies about my hens - It's such a shame as they were all in retirement from breeders, yet were still great layers & really settled well.
I only got one egg today!
Tried to move the flock up the hill last night but a woman just drove through the flock scattering them, so we got all the ewes moved & managed to get half the lambs across. Got the rest moved this lunch time, but again a Range Rover drove on as we had the lambs nearly there. I didn't half give him a two fingered wave - what a tube. It's difficult moving them across & OH is a bit lame at the mo. Some folks just have no consideration what so ever.
Went up the hill this afternoon & all look enjoying the fresh grass & heather, but such ticks about.0 -
and theres more

No, they're my trees and it's all my hedge. They hang over a bit, like trees do, but it's hardly a problem, as that side faces south. Some are mature oaks and the rest are either hawthorns or blackthorns that I left to keep a bit of diversity.
It's no big deal. I can't see it on my side. Thinking about it, Mr Farmer may not even know, because he hires contractors, one of whom was the lad who did my road hedge. He's not very bright, a bit of a butcher and he always reaches as high as he can, which is quite a way on that John Deere! Fair enough, on a road.......:(0 -

Choille sorry to hear about the hens. Frustrating that people can't just wait a few mins until you get your sheep sorted.
CTC hope things are selling well, I love working at events like that and used to do a lot of them when I was in my 20s.
Dave I am sure after all the hard work your water garden will look great.
Alfie I would sell on ebay or gumtree as you will get much better money than at a car boot. Near us there are vintage/second hand boutiques that sell clothes on your behalf and just take a %
Rhiw glad that your hard work is paying off.
As for me I have had a tough few days. I took ill and was taken into hospital, mercifully Rumlet and myself are going to be fine and just need some antibiotics and TLC. In was very scary but I was very well cared for by the maternity staff. On a cheerier not Rumlet is...... a boyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer, you've probably been overdoing it, but at least there's no damage done. As someone who chased a bus after his vasectomy, with predictable consequences, I'm in no position to lecture, but do go carefully!
Yes, the stream garden will be fine once I adapt to its limitations, which include a disappearing stream! However, as we've had heavy rain this morning since henrise, I'm hopeful it will return.
The trout fishing season ends on Sunday night, so it looks unlikely I'll have time to benefit from these downpours now. Can't help noticing that ever since I started fishing again in June, the rivers have fallen and remained pretty unfishable. :(Thank goodness I'm not paying £800 for a season, which is quite a typical figure for a place on a beat around here! :eek:0 -
Second hand designer boutiques might be the way to go Alfie.....might even be worth taking them to London, (if you find one and arrange with them DH might be able to take them up for you, I can ask him....or I am going in at the end of the month, longer to wait, but I'd gladly take them in in the car when going in ......)0
