morning all,
damp, drizzle and very murky here....
This year has flown by.. honestly don't know where its gone..
I need to start thinking about ebay again... to try and make the most of the pre-Christmas buying...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Flash is a real killer of decent close-ups, unless you have all the kit to bounce it around properly.
Agree totally! The lamps I bought were anglepoise/flexistem lights and I invested in a new Fluorescent 450mm white tube for one of them. Gives a better colour balance for non-flash shots which were coming out yellowish.0 -

Yes, daylight type bulbs solve that problem and you can twiddle with the 'warmth' of photos in your photo program too.
I don't use anything sophisticated for most pictures I alter. This is the program I use to download from the camera, file and tweak, although they seem to be on version 15 now and I have 14:

I think it's fine for people like me who don't need to do anything complicated.0 -
Splashed out on a combi-microwave, replacing separate microwave and mini-oven that were cluttering up the kitchen. I think they're too knackered even for t' Bay.0

Where did you get it from? I think we will need something like this shortly as the house we are buying has an integrated oven in the kitchen, but unfortunately the oven has no door on it! Goodness knows what happened. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Well, back to weeding today. I did the mutability lawn mowing then DH popped my on a blanket and I toddies up where we'd gone over a couple of weeks ago, and we've started the autumn mulch. Its going to take weeks and weeks this year. DH moved about 3/4 tonne of poop in barrows we reckon today. Baring in mind we hardly have any borders yet using this much manure now getting something with a front loader sounds a better and better idea.
I have even suggested we pay mr dig to come and shift it into big piles for us so DH has to move it less far......
We should have started a couple of weeks ago really, but never mind.
We have some stuff to move and I'm trying to decide when. There has been a bit of loss this year, but there has also been almost total neglect. Its not been that much of a floriferous year and we definitely need to work on that mid summer period. Now things are looking ok....roses, more delphiniums, asters, few crocosmia, pinks that sort of thing.
My day lilies were miserable this year, my irises were lack lustre and so are my crocosmia actually. My roses are better now than they were a couple of months ago.0 -
Where did you get it from?
My local Currys, although it's £30 less on Amazon if you can be in for delivery.
Been trying it out, pretty clever! Has built-in programmes for different foods and uses the optimal combination of microwave, convection oven and grill - you just dial in the weight...baked spuds are perfect
The instruction book has loads of recipes which make use of microwave-combi features.0 -

Quite a good haul from bargain hunting today
Picked up a large metal/zinc planter for £10, down from £25 (bit rusty at the bottom so will ensure it sits on 'pot feet' to limit further rusting). After packing the bottom half with polystyrene bits, will put in layers of tulip 'Yokohama', daff 'Minnow' and crocus bulbs I got from Lidl a few weeks back - all yellow. Early for planting tulip, but everything has to be done at together; will top off with slate chips and hopefully defeat any mice eating the crocus; I've seen a field mouse in the garden a couple of times.
Also got two agaves for £1 each at B&Q, one had 4 offsets so potted them up. Didn't have any John Innes #3 to hand, but made up a mix of compost, vermiculite, sharp sand and granite grit. Am wondering if the agave offsets should be given some bottom heat to help root development?
Also attached Heath-Robinson style two solar LED lamps to the sides of the garden arch, facing down to light the beds either side. It's not that bright but complements the uplighting I have on the twisted willow. Hopefully this time next year, the arch will have been covered with the clematis I've planted which will hide the wires.
Now it's the Equinox, I really need to add lights at back of house. Got all the bits, inc. a PIR trigger for the bulkhead lamps, just need to fit them and wire up...
Mild night here in Glasgow, but am starting to think about how to stop plants in conservatory getting chilled during the winter by keeping it above 3 degree C. I have one of those greenhouse heaters with thermostat brought from my last house, but the thermostat dial is hopelessly imprecise. Annoying.0 -
Ironed until 2am & then mega holidoid houses swill out - really running all day. back ache, knee ache - easier to say what doesn't ache including Mr Choille's ears as I have been in a reet ole strop. Came home & took loads of photos & the the blubbery switch on camera is blubbery kerchangeered, so gave Mr Choille more ear ache because, because.....he was handy!
What a rotten two bit, good fer nuffink waste of a day.......
Will revisit all the camera talk earlier on by Dave & Rhiw - have a new camera but got that out & they've given us the wrong lead, so gave Mr Choille more earache................................................................................................................Poor Mr choille....................0
