Galaxy S4 v Xperia Z?

I have the s3 and i had a play with the s4 to be honest i couldn't see a great deal of different i know there is and i would still prefer the s4 over the Xperia Z
like most people have said i don't like the fault of not being able to take the battery out
Also if the z was to freeze you have to hold on to a button until it reboots its self trouble is that can take a while some times were on my s3 you just take the battery out and put it back in and away you go.
I have the xperia z, and would suggest the OP get the Samsung, not because the Z is a bad handset, far from it, but whilst 'everybody' gets the iphones and samsung, then the Z retains some exclusitivity
Taking the battery out and re-inserting it and powering up takes as long if not longer than a soft reset.0 -

To me that would be a plus to stop people looking at what I am doing when on a bus, train or in a waiting room. Maybe that was intentional by Sony like the current ATM's which now have screens with small viewing angles for extra privacy.0 -
Well, after all that.... work have told me that I can only have an iPhone 5 :~( boooooooo.LBM: March 2012

(obviously, I'm very grateful that work are paying for me to have a shiny new phone, just wish it wasn't an iPhone...)LBM: March 2012

I've got the Z and don't really recommend it. The screen is crap compared with other high-end models, and there are a number of bugs (Google Now not working properly, for one, plus I'm too lazy to install a custom ROM). It is waterproof, though, and that's perhaps its one good feature.
HTC One, SGS4 and the iPhone 5 are all better - you're far better off with an iPhone 5 in my opinion.

I have a S3, and want to get rid of it, the battery life is poor compared to my iphone. It also broke a few month's back and was sent to samsung and took 1 month to come back!Audi - Vorsprung durch Technik

I would have gone with the z to be honest... but the choice has been taken away from me now! Haven't had an iPhone for a couple of years so now need to relearn

Thanks for everyone's help and advice

I second the HTC one but in the choice presented I'd go with the S4. Its a slick piece of tech
Friend has the Xperia Z and while its a good phone I believe the battery life is awful0 -
The battery life is poor but it's the screen which is awful: http://www.displaymate.com/Smartphone_ShootOut_3.htmIn the review, Sony was the most criticized in the scoring, with Soneira calling its performance “extremely disappointing – even shocking given that Sony was once the best display manufacturer in the world, famous for their beautiful and accurate picture quality,” Soneira wrote. He calls this “very far from reality,” that includes “awful viewing angle performance which is common for low-end displays but is inexcusable in an expensive flagship top-of-the-line product.” And there’s more, he also notes that the Bravia engine “…that they brag enhances picture quality, significantly degrades it instead,” Soneira said in the shoot-out findings.
What's the point in having high-end specs along with a low-end screen?
It really makes the Z a pain to use, but I'm going to soldier on with it until whenever the next iPhone is released.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
