Dry clean only?

I washed my silk wedding dress myself in the machine and it came out just fine!! Was quoted over £100 to get it done in a dry cleaner, and put in a fancy box, so did it myself! My mother was horrified but it did the job!:)0

OH bought his wedding suit a couple of months early, then wore it to a christening and DD2 got some fruit cake on his knee...
I'm not a happy bunny. We took it to the dry cleaners but they said they couldn't remove it! It's about the size of a 10p piece and not noticable to others, only people who know it's there. But still. The wedding is in less than 7 weeks time.
Is there anything I can do to remove it? We're going to try taking it to another dry cleaners and see what they say, but I just don't know what to do. Annoying thing is it's a light grey suit...
Please help. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
As its just the trousers and not the jacket, I'd pre treat with some sort of stain remover and machine wash on a delicate or hand wash cycle, then spin on a low spin speed and drip dry.
I wouldn't hesitate as I think 'dry clean only' is just a safeguard for the manufacturers and lots of 'DC' only stuff is perfectly okay to wash.

I'm just worried that i might make it worse though, that's the annoying thing. The suit cost £250 so not like we can go and buy anotherone as we don't have that money really. Would the rubon vanish do anything do you think? or soaking it in the vanish? What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

My OH has an italian silk weave suit from Next and it was in need of a clean. We couldn't afford the dry cleaners so I turned it inside out trousers and suit jacket so they stay the same colour and put them on a 30 degree 30 minute wash.
I took the suit straight out and hung it on it's hanger to dry in shape then I ironed it on the reverse. It's as good as new. I know some people wouldn't put dry cleaning in the washer but on really low temperatures/short washes it has been fine for me0 -
Hi
if it is a grease mark you could try bicarbonate of soda sprinkled on the stain, it may absorbe the grease.
If you do resort to washing at a low temperature don't forget to do all pieces of the suit so that the colour is the same.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

UPDATE: Well I decided to take a chance the other day, got the Vanish stick out, wet the trousers, used the stick and put it on a delicates wash.
The stain dissapeared. Just annoys me now though that a dry cleaners couldn't get the stain out themselves!

I have a faux sheepskin/shearling jacket that needs freshening up. It is polyester so was going to wash it on a wool cycle in the machine. The label states 'dry clean only'.
Has anyone done this and was it successful?A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
