I like getting boned chicken thighs from the butcher, only a slight price increase from the regular.

Cheese usually for us. Yesterday we found Asda had loads of Extra Special Mature Cheddar, Emmental and Cheshire on reduced to clear at £2.50/kg. Not yellow stickered, plenty of time left on the dates just a white SEL which I spotted and made full use of. We do like our cheese! :D

Followed closely by wine. We have the 3 for £10 so not that exorbitant. :rotfl: or we buy in when supermarkets have their special offers or there's a glitch. :)

    Most expensive is chicken breasts (£4.50 for 3, S'burys) (although I got a whole, fresh pre-prepped one for £2.06 :o yellow-stickered today!)

Cheapest is pasta & rice (30-50p a bag A*di) or noodles (15p for Chinese-branded super noodle-style, my fave, from T*sco)

Cheapest ? Wood Pigeon, Rabbits and Grey Squirrels, all free and good eating !

Dearest ? Hard to judge because I never pay more than half genuine full price for anything !

I will bulk buy 100 items at a time if the price is right and they will keep .

A big chest freezer is the key to money saving . The running costs are a fraction of the savings its storage provides .
  • Most expensive - quorn probably. Can't persuade DCs down the pulses only path just yet. Potatoes much more pricey this year too.

Cheapest? Most of the items I get are much the same sort of price. Probably value chopped tomatoes.

I do still buy treat foods though and am thinking of weaning them off them. Wish me luck. I will need it.

Wine, for us, has to come out of our pocket money. But so do things like print cartridges, stationery for coursework etc. It helps keep the demarcation between food and treats a lot clearer.

I have just done a fortnightly shop and the most expensive item was a 3ltr bottle of vegetable oill at £4! We dont use the deep fat fryer a lot but the oil needs changing. Any tips on where this is cheaper?

    Cheapest was 30p dried pasta.
