Illegitimacy it is a more polite was of saying b'stard .... It really is not a nice way to describe your son.
The trouble is, how do you express this in a single word other than clumsy circumlocutions such as 'my son whom I fathered with a woman to whom I am not married'.

Whatever word you use, the horror of the situation described is going to dominate the perception of the word and there will never be an acceptable word.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

    Wow..FLASHBACK...1970s...
Just use the word my son who i have no relationship with the mother..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

What a terrible expression. I would have hoped that word would have died out sometime in the 60's and 70's.

It did, these days people just say 'son', the OP is a bit behind.

For goodness sake, the op has said time and time again that the child IS his son, he only used that word to explain, why dont you all back off now??
OP, I hope you have a smashing time time with your son, just get written permission from his mother to say your allowed to take him with you and that she gives her permission to oversee any medical problems that hopefully wont occur. You do sound a lovely dad x
Treat other's how you like to be treated.

    Harry born 23/09/2008
New baby grandson, Louie born 28/06/2012,
Proud nanny to two beautiful boys :j
And now I have the joy of having my foster granddaughter becoming my real granddaughter. Can't ask for anything better

    UPDATE,
As of today 180919. my granddaughter is now my official granddaughter, adoption finally granted

Why haven't you added your name to the birth certificate yet? If you and the mother are civil enough for her to accept your child support AND take him on holiday I don't understand why you don't add your name.

None of your (text removed by Forum Team) business, the OP asked a simple question, either answer the original question or !!!!!!.... why are so many people judging him. Good grief!:mad:

The OP was just trying to clarify why he was wondering if he might have difficulties.

No need to get any big baggy PC knickers in a twist.

Sorry, I dont get this reply... 'I word'???

I do have 'parental responsibility' and I take this very seriously(this is why I pay this child maintenance and have him at weekends)
And this is why I am showing concern with his wellfare while on holiday

If you have PR, you won't have a problem consenting to treatment.

It'll make life less stressy if mum just provides a note with her contact details on it saying she gives consent to the holiday and any necessary medical treatment, keep it with your passports and if anybody asks, it's there.

    But they rarely ask.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I suspect it's probably because the word hit a nerve with some people.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
