Closed, I appreciate everyone's help and advice but there have been several people all advising different things and I've just found it all too confusing. I'm clueless when it comes to computers and people here have talked about things I don't have the first clue about.

I haven't meant to ignore or offend anyone.

NiftyDigits, I'm using a public computer at the moment but will check the number and post it as soon as I get home.

I beg to differ. You did ignore. Otherwise you should/would have written that you didn't understand.

so, just go into control panel, look if rapport is installed, answer the question, and uninstall it if it is.

if that doesn't work, further advice will follow if you post what machine it is.

I've sent you a PM in the meantime. Perhaps you can carry it out on the computer that you are using.

Rapport is installed, when I clicked to uninstall I got a pop up message saying the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

So it won't let me uninstall Rapport.

Choose Safe Mode with Networking, download SafeMSI, unzip the contents and run the program within.
You'll then be able to go into the Control Panel and uninstall Rapport.

Have unzipped SafeMSI for you. So download from here instead.

One step less for you. I've used up my daily data allowance for today, closed will see you right. :) I'll be back later. Off on the bike.

had a feeling that might happen, if you have any problems with safemsi, post back and hang around, don't give up, there are other things you can do.

The likelihood is this problem is caused by rapport, so once you've uninstalled it, hopefully the machine will boot normally.

if the machine is wired to the router, could you startup in safe mode with networking, and post a hijackthis log, the instructions are in the speedup sticky thread above. http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/hjt/2.0.5%20beta/HijackThis.exe?r=http%3A%2F%2Fsourceforge.net%2Fprojects%2Fhjt%2F&ts=1371841992&use_mirror=freefr or http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/ big green download button
