Do you have the installation CD/DVD - ie Your windows software ?
I suggest that you try reinstalling Windows before going to the expense of a replacement laptop....0 -
No I don't have it
Think it got lost when we moved house.

The blue screen means your hard may have corrupted. If you have decide to buy a lap,
there are many out there, and i would like to recommend Dell, i used it before very nice and good to handle. You can also try these Lenovo and Sony.0 -
what does the blue screen say - most blue screens aren't hardware related, and therefore can be fixed without spending money
does safe mode work
if it's branded, you may not need the windows disc to reinstall.!!

Erm....I wouldn't like to say your post is simplistic, but it is.0 -

I agree - blue screens can be caused by software or hardware issues !!
more often than not - poor drivers !!
And avoid Sony - they are overpriced rubbish....
Dell are also overpriced and Lenovo are OK but tend to have cheaply made Keyboards and tracker pads
As I have previously asked - why buy a laptop - unless space is a serious issue - your £'s will buy a much higher spec Desktop than laptop.
And you already have the monitor0 -
Alternatively - why not download Ubuntu and install that on your existing PC - It will only cost you a blank CD and you may get to like it as an operating system.....0

If you look on the case (probably the rear or possibly the top) - is there a sticky label with a string of numbers on it ?
I assume that you were using Windows XP ?
If not, and you were using Windows 7 - You can download a full installation DVD from digitalriver at X17-59463.iso
This is the (legal) link for Windows 7 premium 32 bit - which is most likely to be the one...
You will, of course need a blank DVD and burner...
You will need your product key to install the software0
