I'm not a brie fan myself but you know that actually sounds quite nice! I'd be interested to hear how it went
My cous cous is surprisingly yummy - I've managed to get the flavours very wrong in the past so it's put me off making my own (but I've always liked shop bought ones) But how easy was this one..??? stock cube disolved in the right amount of water, pour over, stri and cover. Leave for a few mins and added chopped cook sausage! And better stil, this is another option for taking lunches out for the dayAnother use for little bits of chicken that are left after a roast too
I'm having a hungry day today though so not sure how well I will fair after lunch on just a nectarine :eek:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

I fell off the wagon today
I've had toothache the last 2 days, I'm all sorted for an appointment with the dentist after work today but the discomfort is so bad paracetamol isn't quite doing the trick, which left me with no choice but to visit the neighbouring shop to pick up some brufen... this wouldn't have been a problem if I hadn't managed to forget my lunch for the first time all year as well (we'll blame the toothache). I did browse the rolls with an idea I could dunk them in a cup a soup from my drawer, but they didn't look remotely appealing so I ended up with a bunch of rubbishy (but soft) food instead.
On the bright side it means I still have some cold pasta and cheese sauce ready for reheating at home, which should prove to be a nice soft meal for me to enjoy after I've seen the dentist. :rotfl:
On the not so bright side, the inevitable extortionate bill I'm likely to get to fix the problem (private dentist you see) will provide incentive to be good for the rest of the year, or maybe even longer!£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

Twiggy - have you really taken lunch to work with you everyday for the whole year? You're a packed lunch saint!

Glad to hear your cous cous trial has gone well!
I found that yesterday I started to fancy picking at something around 3ish and whilst I'm leaving at 4.15 today (got to pick up bf's script) I made some popcorn last night (found half a dozen butterkist packs in a kitchen draw from a little while ago!) and I've brought some to work in an ice cream tub (probs about 1/3rd the pack.
The tub should last me today and tomorrow me thinks
I know it's not as healthy as air popped stuff but, in the spirit of no waste/money chucking I'm using up house stuff and get a sweet treat
Plus we still have 3 salted and 1 sweet at home now for the next few weeks
Also on a mission to drink more - yesterday finished my 750ml bottle 1.5 times...already drunk it twice today ************************************

I think so yes! Certainly every day I'd planned to anyway... I think... There have been 4 or 5 exceptions where I've had plans to meets friends or family for lunch at nearby cafe's, but only paid for a bought lunch on 3 occasions (technically 2 as my DP paid for 1!), last time I met my aunts I made a point of only buying a pot of tea and ate my lunch at my desk before I left the office. I've even had days where I've brought lunch from home on days I didn't need to, e.g. training or meeting days where lunch has been provided for free! :rotfl:
My main achievement is to have avoided Subway next door, it was becoming an increasing habit at the end of last year to just grab a meal deal as it was the easiest thing to do.:A£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

Morning all. TFI Friday...!
This has been a real 'turn over' week for me - not a single spend on food for lunches etc, only spends have been on planned 'things' - road tax, mot, pull out hanging space to make a upcupboard into a wardrobe... but no spending anything on junk. Woo hoo!
Thankyou for the support and inspiration, I've found it has really helped me get and keep on track
Today I have the same as yesterday - a banana for breakfast, cous cous for lunch and a nectarine for a snack. I am usually ready to eat my handbag by the time I leave for home but I'm desperately trying to cut down so I just have to push through it andrmind myself that I'm only hungry as I got used to eating what I wanted when I wanted, hence needing to lose the weight now!April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Morning All. I have been organised with lunches all week. Yesterday our boss surprised us with a chinese meal for the whole dept so that was good. Today we have a staff barbecue and then I am off on a weeks holiday.
Will be checking out the thread for inspiratin when I get back. Have a good week everyone.0 -
Lunch yesterday was more beef stock cous cous with some savoury mince, a jelly pot and some of my popcorn - lovely. I did also bring fruit but never got round to eating it...woops.
I've already had a cereal bar today which I brought in for elevensies and lunch is plain cous cous with cucumber and baby plum tomatoes along with the other bit of savoury mince (it's mince, onion, peppers, mixed veg and a beef oxo crumbled in) - flipping delicious! Followed by the standard jelly pot and popcorn. I have also brought in a juice box, 2 twinks hobnobs (recipe from the OS board...LUSH!) and two pieces of fruit which I must eat today!!
Sitting alone in my office today which often makes me feel bored but I'm hoping to reach for the fruit or more fluids today if boredom strikes!************************************

Oh that was a lovely surprice allie23 with the Chinese! Hope the weather holds off for you for the staff BBQ too - it's good to get to know work colleagues away from your desk
Lushlifesaver, I think I might opt for Jelly next week (I've been hunting round for small lidded pots at home) and the popcorn too.. I get ours from Home Bargains, 4 single packs for £1, which makes a really cheap snack, especially when you break the packs down to smaller portions. I prefer salty which they tend to run out of sooner, but I can definately partake in some sweet popcorn when I'm out of salty! Lol
Breakfast changed slightly this morning - I was handed a freebie new breakfast biscuit pack this morning at the station, so that replaced my banana. Thank fully, as I've started getting bored of them for breakfast every day.. I'll take the banana home with me and it'll most likely get frozen for baking as it's already getting a bit too ripe for my liking and will now be beaten up twice by my handbag so I don't expect it'll be very appealing by tomorrow :rotfl:
Boredom is a shocker for making me pick/graze - the vending machine is suddenly my best friend when I'm boredApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500
