i will be joining again this month, last month was dismal and i went way over, stopped keeping track and doing a weekly shop etc. spent so much more than usual!

this month (4th june - 1st july = 4 weeks) i am going back to basics. one food shop per week except milk and fresh fruit and veggies. im not going to pressure myself, just try and bring in down some from last month which was about 350!!

i dont have much money in the kitty to take advantage of bulk buys yet, so will be doing the pms challenge too i think lol

    Morning all

    Well payday today.

Dont know about you but I find this the hardest time. You feel like your bank balance is healthy and you have loads to play with. Not the case so see how I get on.

Day 1 of the grocery challenge for me and i am quite excited funnily enough. Not a bad start but the begining of the month is always quite expensive what with stocking up etc.

At work again today hope you all have fun and enjoy your day

Well I have ordered my meat box from the Fishleigh estate, it says its big enough for 4 people for a month but they haven't met me yet! I'll make go round the 6 of us! £107.95 and they deliver too. Decided to leave the half pig until later in the year as money was too tight for both and in the meat box there is at least a variety.

    Box contains...
    2 x 2kg Prime organic roasting joint
4 organic beef steaks (approx 1kg)
4 Packs of Organic lean minced beef 500g each
3 Packs of award winning pork sausages
2 Packs of award winning dricured bacon
2 Pack of chops or steaks (approx 500g each)
A surprise, something seasonal 1kg (usually game)

    plus I added some sausagemeat.

Now just to attack the general groceries at Mr Sainsburys! That'll be tomorrow.

Well, following my failure to do anything very much at all over the long weekend, have to go shopping on way home from work today and stock up on fruit, veg, cheese, and any meat I can find cheap-ish. Still having problems with my good intentions to get away from the supermarkets as the local market is a bit of a pain to get to with work hours and not driving.. plus my Clubcard vouchers have arrived so I'm afraid I'm going to have to take advantage and go to the evil Tesco  Now, is the amount to add to my total what I've spent before or after vouchers...?

Well I've managed to avoid the evil Tesco for another few days - went into very small Sainsburys near my work for some lunch and they had some veg and loads of organic steak and burgers all reduced. Worked out I'd spent about £8 including my lunch but when I came to pay it was only £6-odds, didn't get a receipt so dunno if they've missed something or some of it was reduced even more - anyway, I've ended up with two big steaks, 4 burgers, a quiche and some bits and pieces of veg for just over £4! Time to fill the freezer... :)

Dont know whats come over me this week, I think I,m in a panic, feel my money is being taken away from me so spending like a maniac. Bought a load of vitamins yesterday from Boots, only to find I already have them in the cupboard, I wont live long enough to take them all, so back they go today. I had to buy a watch today as my other one has gone tubby bye-byes, and I live by my watch in work, so another £8 gone. Got some reduced meat today too milk and cat food. Total bill £20.21p, but used moc,s so final was £16.14, if I dont count the watch, which after all isnt really groceries, then £8.14, that looks better

I've been reading Martin's emails for ages but never taken the plunge with the forums... desperation (my mortgage is about to go to repayment costing me an extra £300 per month, eek!) is leading me to trying to save more money! I am going to give the grocery challenge a go. I usually go to Tescos once a week and spend between £70 and £120 though this includes EVERYTHING even clothes quite often! This is for two adults and three hungry, spoiled cats! I'm going to start on June 1st and aim for £300 this month and see where I can go from there!

good luck to everyone else undertaking the grocery challenge!

p.s. please can someone how to add a signature to my posts - or do you just write it on each time?
