    Hi all,

Count me in again! Last month was much better than April, actually came in under budget which makes a change lol

This month, we are working with a lower budget (and trying to separate it into monthly and weekly spend), soooo target for this month is £70 for my 'big shop' from Tescos and £40 per week for fruit, veg and meat (and anything else that might crop up). As my fruit and veg box costs us £13 per week, I reckon we should be able to stay well within this.

TBH we need to come in below this, we have had some unexpected expenditure this week that has meant we need to cut back in many areas..

Good luck all, hope you have a great month! Just going to nip in and update my signature...

    Sarah xx

I'm in again this month too. I have a big tesco delivery coming tonight cos it was only £3.99 and I got a £5 off voucher (though I'm not paid till Thurs so my month officially starts then). June is only four weeks, and more importantly 4 weekends, since I do fresh shopping at weekends the 5 weekend month last month had a big effect. My tesco shop should come in somewhere about £60 and includes some fruit and veg which will hopefully reduce the temptation to shop next weekend. So I'm going to set my budget for an ambitious £120-£150 again. Wish me luck cos I think I'll need it!

And good luck to everyone else especially the newcomers. Isn't this thread long already!

My boyfriend has just moved in with me so we're now buying for 2, which will hopefully mean we can get more for our money!

Gonna aim to run stocks down this month and use up some scrappy bits lying around the place so target for this month is.... Hmmm... £60 including toiletries/household stuff.

    Good luck everyone!

I am a new moneysaver and you folk have all inspired me. I have no idea how much I spend every month but I think it will be frighteningly high. 2 adults, 2 children, 1 cat, 4 hens. I am going to start by seeing how much I do spend and I hope to have it under £100 per week. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Welcome to the site henmuffin, like you said Rome wasn't built in a day, any progress is good.

I've had to do some June spending already just because I didn't want to go back through there again pointlessly, so off to update total in a mo.
One day I might be more organised...........

i thinki i must have set a world record !!
my month starts tomorrow, i have set the budget at £200 and i have already spent £115 :o not bad going eh?

its not as bad as it sounds and i am stil v confident that i will stay within budget. i only spent £125 last month, 2 adults, 2 under 5's but the cupboards are getting a bit bare.
i have ordered a huge asda shop to come tomorrow and am away next week so it will hopefully just be fresh stuff for the last 2 weeks of the month :D

good luck everyone, junes a good month (my birthday!!)

    Hi all

I'm in again this month after going over budget by about £60 last month due to family being over for a couple of long weekends  So it's £300 again this month (2 adults, 2 kids and a dog) with meal planning and a few storecupboard bits I should do it this month :D One day, how many times do we all say that, I hope to get to £200 but honestly I'd be happy for £250 at the moment :rotfl:

  • Hi Please count me in I had opted in May GC. Did pretty well in first 2 weeks but then things starting falling over. However this was my 1st month and I had absolutely no idea on where my money goes. I also messed up on few things like adding fuel to my Grossary bill.
I am about to do a final calculation of my May spending and set the target accordingly.
    Quick Ques for GC champions.
how do u calculate month? 1 calendar month or 4 weeks.

Calculate what works best for you, my partner gets paid weekly, my months vary from 4-5 weeks but don't end/start at the beginning or end of each month, usually midway between. I do it based on when he gets paid and when bills etc come out.

Count me in - have just had a £300+ car bill out of the blue and the MOT is due in June so not many happy bunnies here :( I normally spend £100-£120 a week all in (food/toiletries/catfood/nappies/cleaning stuff), June starts for me on Monday 4th so a 4-week month; will be aiming for £380 all in(first time I've done this so baby steps!).
