Hello Pink
Thanks for your help! I hope my signature will now appear.... My flown-away DS is back today and I've remembered how hard he is to feed - he's been through all the (full) cupboards and fridge freezer and declared that there is 'nothing to eat'. How did I manage? (Answer: very big shopping bills!)0 -
Hi.
Think I will join this one as i do not really know what i spend per month. I just seem to guess so i am going to go with £250. That is for 2 adults and 2 children.
Just a quickie does this include things like Beer/wine etc or just food stuffs and toiletries and cleaning materials ?. I get paid on Wednesday so will go from there.

Hi ym,
What you decide to include is entirely up to you. The great thing about the grocery challenge is that it's a personal challenge and everyones needs and expenses will be different. The aim is to bring your total spending down to a level that you are comfortable with. Good luck with yours!

Hi
Thanks for that. I think I will include this as this will give me a realistic figure to work on as i do buy this stuff every month and after month 1 i can sit and try to cut back where possible.
Really looking forward to this as it will be interesting to see what i do spend instead of guessing.

Hello yellowmonkey
I'm new to this too! I'm going to include beer and wine in my challenge as the wine is my downfall! Cheap wine gives me the worst hangovers ever after even one glass so I can't go there and it's so tempting to nip out to our local little Mr T for a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. I can't even bring myself to write down how much that costs.0 -
juliapenguin.
Lets see how we do. I also smoke(I know!!!!). i am going to include this as well. Smoke roll ups so bit cheaper.
Good luck

Welcome to new challengers  ! Looks like we are all up for June, I know I am... I have created a post specially for any challengers that are only feeding one or two people, so because I am rubbish at doing the links thing, can only recommend you search under my username to find it if you want to drop by for a natter
The aim is for everyone to list cheapie but healthy meals for 1/2 peeps, listing cost per meal so we can all benefit from the recipes - lots of banter last month and some good savings made based on recipes - my fave at the moment is (my latest creation...) Tuna Gumbo!
I plan to order 1 big shop from Tesco online for skimmed milk packs (say 12 to last the month, so much cheaper than the plastic bottles of milk and better for environment, and I don't have to carry them!), tins of stuff, pasta, toilet roll etc, then buy every Saturday from the local market for veg, fruit, meat and eggs, then local Sainsburys for weekly extras. This plan has slowly been evolving for the last 2 months, hoping June it will finally happen 100%!MFW #185

Thanks for the welcome, EagerLearner :T Great idea about the thread for those of us feeding only one or two...was wondering how I'd manage all the leftovers! :rotfl:0 -
Glad to see you on board and do drop by, I am feeble with links, so hope you find it! Leftovers of course can be frozen, or hashed together with other stuff to make, er, gumbos!

It's just me this month and considering May's budgeting and coming WAY under I am going to challenge myself and stick to £40 BUT it is now going to include tioletries, cleaning items and the like.
My month will run from the 1st of June to the 30th of June.
I will be going to Poland for 4 days with my college this month and will have to buy lunch and dinner for myself (the hotel cost has breakfast included) so I'm hoping I can do this. If I go over it will be a learning curve and I'll see what I can do.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0
