Rang on the Freephone number today as unable to arrange payees on new account. Seems you have to wait 3 working days for your telephone details to work which is necessary for making payments out of the account. I was just testing with a £1 transfer but error message said they did not have my telephone details.
Well sorted now with 3 BOS Vantage accounts (15K) but I didn't enjoy the experience. Sad that we are down to this scrabbling for 3% interest. (2.96% monthly)"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -
now have all details ofr the 6 accounts (3 Lloyds,, 3 BofS).
Started to transfer from Santander esaver (3.15% ending in a few days), and santander blocked my account after the first 2 transactions ! (blocked for 24 hrs).
Good that they notice/have the security, but so much for the Santander in branch comment of "£100k is OK"
The standing order facility on the Vantage/Lloyds/BofS seems to be the way forward though.
£1k transfer 1 x mth between each account, WILL satisfy their requirement of £1k funding into each account - ? Others doing the same as this ?0 -

typistretired: Did the two additional BoS accounts that you applied for online ever materialise? I've had to go through the most long winded procedure to open my first Vantage with them, and finally it's up and running. I'd now like to apply for 2nd and 3rd, but when I log on and click on open a current account, a message comes up saying that they're unable to offer me further current accounts (no application page is offered to me). Did you make your online applications whilst logged on or not?0 -
I got that as well, I found it easier to just ring up and request a second account. Within 10 minutes I had the sort code and account number and had transferred my £1 test payment to it. 24 hours later I did the same thing for the 3rd account.0

dont trust the online applications. the system seems to think they are "duplicates" and you don't really want them !!
Though a pain, do it by phone.
Just seen that NS&I 1.75% has been reduced to 1.25%. Will go for Derbyshire istead (1.70%)0 -
I opened my 1st BoS Classic account online last week... all went well and it was showing online the following day (logged on with my existing Halifax Online banking credentials). Yesterday I opened my 2nd Classic account online (ignoring the warning about not already having a current account with them). Again all went well and the account is showing online today - both with Vantage. So it seems it IS possible to open more accounts online despite the warning... I intend to open a 3rd account next week, I'm hoping that by leaving a few days in between, they won't think these are duplicates and bin them off!
I know it's probably easier to open the 2nd and 3rd accounts over the phone, but I really don't like the idea of the sales talk which may come my way!0 -

There's no sales talk coming your way if you apply for one of these on the phone. What will come your way is questions as to why you want another one - - to which the answer could be "to manage my finances better". What will also definitely coming your way is listening to all the T&Cs that they read off a script. So you need a little patience but it will pay off.
BTW, some people are not given the oppty to apply online for a 2nd and/or 3rd account, so some people have to phone if they they want these additional accounts.0 -

I know there is a button whilst logged in online to apply for another Current Account, but this told me something along the lines of "we're unable to offer you another current account", so I just applied via the normal website as if I were a new customer. Luckily I was accepted and everything worked ok and was linked up to my existing Online ID etc. Though some people seem to have reported that not always being the case!0 -
Right, I've managed to make my second application online now (by not logging on, which it wouldn't let me do last week). Question, it asked if I wanted to register for internet banking, so I selected no, as it wanted passwords etc, which I've already got as I'm already registered for internet banking. Should I have answered yes? Hope this won't stop me from being able to view it along with my other Halifax & BoS accounts.0
