Anyway after a lot of serious thought I have decided to place another order with Ebuyer for the FZ8 at £179.99p, I didn't really want silver but that won't affect the Pictures it takes

You could still try Dixons to see if they will beat that price with their "price match". Worked for me although the price was higher everywhere 2 weeks ago ...grrrr! May even get a black one like I did.

BTW its a cracking camera... I'm still playing with new features and settings not seen before by me on my old pocket Olympus mju410.

Cancelled my order with Ebuyer - theirs is an 0871 number, expensive, average wait 2 or 3 mins and can be longer. They admitted quite nonchalantly that the FZ8 was 'discontinued' (it may be with Ebuyer but not with Panasonic...) and - oh, by the way would I like to cancel/get a refund.

Will be giving Ebuyer a wide berth in future as I encountered all the negative sides on my first order attempt. The 0871 number which is like a ticking meter is particularly galling.

Will look at the TZ3 as the wider angle lens will be more useful for photographing the inside of B&Bs for our directory. Pity no internal LCD viewfinder on the TZ3 but you can't have it all.

My post above was all info taken from the ebuyer site. This is what Google reports

    Your order has been cancelled.
12 Jun Order cancelled - eBuyer has cancelled your order. Your credit card has been refunded in full.
    Reason: Other (describe below)
Comments from eBuyer: "Order cancelled by Ebuyer"

12 Jun £170.12 refund - Your credit card was refunded for £170.12.
    Reason: Other (describe below)

7 Jun £170.12 charge - Your credit card (MASTERCARD xxx-***) was charged for £170.12. "GOOGLE *Ebuyer.com" will appear on your credit card statement.

7 Jun Note from eBuyer - eBuyer has sent the following message: "Dear Customer, Your order is now processing through our system and will be delivered by 14/06/2007. We will provide a status update to you once your order has been dispatched. Kind Regards Ebuyer Support Team"

7 Jun Order received - eBuyer received your order.

7 Jun Order placed - Your order was placed with eBuyer. A confirmation email was sent to you by Google

I have checked my bank account and indeed £170.12p was taken from my Mastercard on 7th June the particulars are "GOOGLE *EBUYER.COM GOOGLE.COM/CH GB ". So it looks like Google is taking the Dosh on placement of order not dispatch. Thanks for pointing it out, I will follow up on this as it is Very Bad practice.

As for the camera canon have just released the S5is so the S3is should now be coming down in price quite dramatically and although older than the Pany it is a superior Camera.
Almost exactly the same happened to me. I ordered an FZ8 together with an SD card from ebuyer through Google Checkout on 7 June. The goods were "allocated", and would be delivered by 13 June according to the Website. On 12 June I received an email from Google Checkout to say the goods had been dispatched.

In the event, only the SD card was delivered. I phoned ebuyer on their premium rate number (10 minutes!) only to be told that they had no cameras available and had discontinued the product. I have still not received any written notification or refund from eBuyer or Google Checkout. I will steer clear of both of these in future.

Collecting money from a credit card account and then requiring the customer to call a premium rate line to get a refund must be a useful way of making money - probably why the ebuyer site has cheep prices!

I believe it breaks the terms of their agreement with the Credit Card companies, I would flag it up with them if I had more time.
