Hi Crumpets, glad the festival was good. I waved as we went past your location :j :rotfl:

Windows sound good :money:. I wish you all the best with the no supermarket challenge - I'd be really interested in your blog & updates on that.

I got DS' school shoes too, they have red & green flashing lights & aeroplanes on them! £38 this time, some of the others they brought out for us to see were £42+ Good luck with the potty training too!

    Hope you're feeling better now?

I definitely noticed you wave :D I waved back :rotfl: it's lovely to have the windows open and be able to air the room properly :T the potty training has stopped for now as Ds has had an upset tummy, I've brought pants though so we're ready to go next week. I really hope he's ready as it would make my life a lot easier to not have to buy nappies especially now we're not using supermarkets :p

That's quite a big challenge, to avoid supermarkets all together, so it'll be interesting to see how you get on.

I'm not sure I could do it, but I hope to make a improvement next year by using our local farm shop more

Hi goldiegirl, I'm feeling better now but unfortunately I passed it on to dh and my mum! I was sure it was something I ate, whoops  so far so good on the supermarket challenge, although as I did only do a big shop the other day I'm probably easing myself in gently. It's definitely a good thing to be using local suppliers more if you can :)

Well as I said up thread it wasn't food poisoning that I had and I have infact passed it onto dh and my mum:eek: so we have been the lurgy house. Thankfully it doesn't last long so dh is back up on his feet today :T

Yesterday I had a lovely LSD with the children whilst dh was in bed. I took them to a lovely NT property that we hadn't been to before and we had a great time. The only spend was £5.40 on 3 ice creams as we took our picnic with us as usual :T i can't believe that a few years ago i would have brought lunch out without a thought, these days I very rarely buy a cup of tea as i just wait until i get home:rotfl: we'll definitely go there again, they had a fantastic vegetable garden which reminded me of Mr Mcgregors garden (Peter Rabbit) and got me inspired to try a bit more gardening :T

Today has been LSD ish, dh went and had his hair cut this morning which is budgeted for and whilst he was in town picked up some ham and bread. I've been having a busy day cleaning and tidying as nothing had been done for a few days and the floor especially was disgusting  this afternoon I'm going to do some baking, I've picked a huge amount of rhubarb and I will get the kids to pick some blackberries out of the front garden. I'll report back with what we end up making :)

I've had disappointment with the things I thought I had sold. The lady didn't come to collect the stairgates again and the 2nd chance person didn't want to bid on the baby monitor so I've ended up with nothing to op instead of almost £60  I'll relist the monitor and see what happens. I think I'll give the stairgate lady one more chance as she seems genuine.

Chicken fajitas for dinner tonight, we got an avocado in our fruit box so I'm going to have a go at making guacamole, I've never made it before, in fact I don't really like it but dh will eat it :D

Grr how frustrating for you  it's so obvious that they just wanted more money for it. We had the same happen with a typewriter we won earlier in the year...get's me so cross. We've had plenty of things sell for less than we want but that's the way it goes.

I feel better for that rant :D

I didn't use the beetroot in the end, I ran out of time. We did make rhubarb muffins, peanut butter and banana flapjacks, loads of fruit crumble filling for the freezer and guacamole. I also have a brioche loaf in the breadmaker. It's been a busy day!

Crumpets this post made me :rotfl:

Wow you've had a busy day, I've got post-holiday knackeredness & have done nothing this evening despite having a list of jobs a mile long. Glad you are all feeling better now anyway. You have my address should you feel the need to send a food [STRIKE]cake[/STRIKE] parcel

It's so difficult to get out of holiday mode isn't it? I think it took me at least 2 weeks to get back into the routine of being home after our holiday :D I seem to be having an urge to holiday at the moment, I think it's because we've had a few lovely breaks this year and I just want them to continue. I said to dh this morning that we should book a break for half term in October but a quick look at the prices soon put paid to that:eek:

Unfortunately goodies don't last long in this house full of gannets, I'll have to make some in secret in send them :D

I've made a small OP of £40 today :T £20 from the stair gates and £20 left over from my spends for this week...being ill does have it's advantages :rotfl: I'm hoping for a lsw next week too as I'm going to start properly with the potty training on Wednesday so we won't be going very far.

Dh has taken the little ones to gymnastics this morning so that is £8 and I also need to get milk, I'm going to get it from a local farm shop so I have no idea how much it will cost:cool: I really have no idea if this challenge is going to cost us more or not but I'm enjoying the challenge and I feel like it's given me the motivation to do a lot of other things like baking and gardening etc This afternoon we're off to my MiL's and in exchange for tidying her garage she is treating us to fish and chips for dinner :T

    hope everyone stays dry today

  • I feel just the same re: holidays, I was mentally planning our next trip to Cornwall before we'd got to Devon on the A30 home :rotfl:. I think school holiday trips are pretty much an impossibility for all of us. DS' headteacher is supportive of family holidays and says they are more valuable than 100% attendance from kids with no truancy problem, but she can't smile on it of course :(

Hope the free fish & chips were good :p. And best of British for the potty training!

And yes please to secret cake! I won't tell anyone here either, just to be on the safe side [STRIKE]I'll just eat it all myself[/STRIKE] ;)
