You were the one comparing the behaviour to being in a 'domestic violence' relationship and how this behaviour wouldn't be acceptable in a human. Cats act on instinct and often because they feel upset/frightened or confused rather than from any sense of malice like you seem to think. Like children they need to be helped and shown that the behaviour is unacceptable and if so they can generally 'grow out' of it. You seem to dismiss any suggestions of how to try and improve the cats behaviour and want to go for the 'easy option' of just getting rid of it.
No idea where killing comes into it as let's face it it's extremely unlikely the cat is going to kill anyone!

It's a lonely woman who perpetually chooses her dysfunctional cat over a family life.

It's a smart woman who can spot a control freak who wants to take over her life.

If you're so intent on getting rid of her cat, what are you going to make her change next?

I watch "My Cat From Hell", with Jackson Galaxys. He is the cat whisper.

Cat like this on the other week. You need to understand how a cat thinks, which is not like a dog. You come up into its face and it will attack. He suggested serious play time, getting the cat knackered out. Letting it out at 4 years of age will only stress it out more. One cat actually turned out to be blind, which was never picked up by the vet or the family. It attacked a lot out of fear. Watching this programme you find out the owners are usually morons and its nothing to do with the cat at all. They just have no idea, how cats think and interact with people or things.

Did you girlfriend use her fingers as toys playing with the cat when young. It might think, okay lets play.

Hi, I cant comment on the cats prob but would advise if anyone does get bitten by a cat to see their dr as they may need antibiotics as cats have nasty germs in their mouths, I do love cats having said that and used to be a veterinary nurse.:)

Your girlfriend has had her cat 4 years. What makes you think that you're so wonderful that she would cast it aside for you? You've only just arrived on the scene.

I agree with another poster and I think that you will most probably let the poor cat outside then "forget" to let it in. Being a house cat the poor mite isn't going to be traffic aware so you will probably get your wish.

Are you related to that cretin of a woman who deliberately put a poor cat into a wheelie bin and shut the lid?

You obviously have an extremely over inflated opinion of yourself, does your poor NEW girlfriend know that you've already got her life mapped out for her, married, 2.4 children , oh.... and kill her cat.

    Arrogance beyond belief!!
    Onwards and Upwards ;)

Either that or just a despicable excuse for a man.

Well yes, there is always that, and just between you, me ,and the other posters, I think your probably right.
But when I see posts like the OP's I always have in mind somebody getting their rocks off at the expense of animal lovers, so I try not to "bite ".

My cat is a bit of a nut-job and can attack at times, she does bite at times, but the licks you straight away (thought I had vampire-cat at first).

I began to realise that unless she is in a particularly bad mood or I have stroked her in one of the million "no-go" zones of her body this behaviour often means she actually wants to play.

Get yourself a roll of tin foil, make tin foil balls, sit on sofa 'pinging' them off arm of sofa.

You may be dealing with what I have which is more of a ninja job, this entails running round the house/flat chasing eachother and hiding round corners and jumping out at eachother. If you want kids, you may as well practice this game anyway. ..but I would advise getting a better relationship with the cat that you have right now.

BAD idea to try to get girlfriend to ditch cat......very bad idea, as it's more likely you will be toast. What will you do if you have a naughty child??.

You will get back what you put in, so try playing games, good luck.

EDIT.....missed a page.....if you were my b/f I would set mine onto you and let her keep going until you were out of the door!!, she will be well rid of you.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Hilarious. Who says I'm chasing it. It's like Chinese whispers on here. I said the cat ran upstairs and I ran up after it.

Certainly sounds like chasing to me.

    "Hilarious" indeed.
