I feel all posh when I sit at a table with my laptop
Sure you'll grow to love the laptop when it's all you have, Birdie. Will admit I'm terrible for checking up on here on my phone, then not replying because I can't be bothered on the tiny screen
Hope everything went well/goes well/is well with the interviews and redundancy notices. Remember the quote "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."
Can imagine you want a skive, Lara. You're always working so hard! Hope everything's okay your end, I'm sure 6 weeks will be over in a flash the way this year is going
Just wondering, what do people think about books as gifts for babies? My Cousin's little girl is due in December and I really want to get them a gorgeous leather bound edition of Hans Christian Andersen stories. But I have a niggling feeling that books are more of a christening/first birthday kind of present?0 -
Good luck NIM!
I think books are a lovely present. I love Poppy's book collection. My sister bought Poppy some books for when she was born. Also they will probably get loads of clothes etc so it will be different.0 -
I think that book will be a lovely gift Cinny.
We're already building up a book collection for Baby Birdie and will love people to buy him books as it's nice to read the stories that other people cherish as we've all got different favourites.
Good luck NIM, hope you hear good news soon.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Phew, okay! She's the first baby on our side of the family since me () so they will be over run with clothes. Plus I thought Rich and I could put a little note in the front pages for her. Can't believe she'll be here in 2 months!0

Afternoon all. Well we got our redundancy warnings yesterday, 2/5 of us will be let go. We know who one of those will be, the other one is between me and another lady, it all depends on which period they use to calculate sickness absence. After talking to NIM we made the decision to approach my head of service and ask if offering 1/2 my job would mean there would only be one redundancy, he's said it might well do, he's gone off to investigate. The maths say because we would get tax credits, and I wouldn't have the commute, we should be £222 worse off a month by me only working half time. Obviously if NIM gets a full time job then we'll be better off than we are now. However we don't yet know if it will be accepted, and might not until the 16th December when they'll tell us who is being made redundant, so until this point my job is in a bit of limbo.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -
That sounds like a good compromise. Must be horrible not knowing what will happen.0

Sorry Dinah that's not a nice feeling
And a really long time to make your team wait ((((Big hugs)))) I hope hope hope NIM gets his job and you can go part-time and it all works out the way you'd like (plus maybe a wee lottery win to clear the debt, hehe).
I'm hanging on in there until December too.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
The best presents were books for baby Kavics. I got tons of clothes, soft toys, toys, etc but I appreciate books more. So go ahead Cinny.0

Good luck with your job NIM, and fingers crossed for a happy solution to your redundancy situation Dinah.
I'm doing a Cinny and reading on my phone but finding it a total pain to reply!
I'm getting settled in at my new job and liking Scotland, though it's very very damp. Just waiting to hear if OH has got a job, it's getting ridiculous now!
