Woo, the meet is this week! :j Going to have to dig out my Oyster card and my train tickets, not sure where they've been moved to in all the moving about! :o

How about going to the British Museum? I've never been and wanted to go for years and years :)

What's the exam you're taking Kavics? Hope it goes well. :)

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend? Mine was very shoppy, got a big fat fatty winter coat and tiny clothes for the little guy. His wardrobe is the cutest thing I've ever seen, OH keeps opening it for a look and saying 'Ahhhh' then closing it again. :D

Aww bet it is so cute Birdie! Love little clothes, the smaller the better!

My weekend was nice. Went for dinner at one of my mum friends on Friday night. Rest of the weekend was filled up with fun things like toilet training which is going slightly better now...

I can't wait to see Baby Birdie! No doubts he's going to be the cutest little guy.

The British Museum sounds good to me, they are having a LGBT film day on the 12th too so that'll be cool! But I'm honestly happy to go anywhere, as long as there's food. Obviously :D

    Hope Poppy's (assuming it's Poppy's :p) potty training is going well :)

Hi all, we're back from the land of rain. Had a nice week except for Grace who reacted so badly to the talc she couldn't sit for days, but good to see NIMs family, however briefly in some cases.

We've come back with about £340 more than we went with, hopefully a little can go towards the debt but I think we still owe the vet about £320 and we don't yet know if we'll get it back from insurance (looks unlikely).

Horrible, horrible morning this morning. Despite me being incredibly quiet Grace still woke up, so NIM was up very early despite coming home at 1am from the airport, so he was like a bear with a bad head. I was giving Grace her bottle when I realized it was 7.02, my train leaves at 7.10 so I had to put her down and run - NIM was in the loo so this was literally putting her on the hall tiles while she screamed and reached for me and yelled 'mama mama' a lot. I have never felt like a worse parent and I was halfway to work before the tears stopped. I'm working 4 days this week and I just HATE it, I hate being away from her so long, I feel like I'm failing at the only thing I want to be doing and I'm naturally good at. By the time I come home she's almost ready for bed and I don't get any real play time, I feel like my time with her at home before she goes off to school is whooshing by so fast and I'm missing it.

Feeling very cut off at the moment, our internet connection (literally, the little white box) got smashed the day we went to ireland when we were moving the toy box looking for my passport. Add to this my mobile phone that I just got last month has died - the screen just doesn't work at all it's completely black, and I feel very cut off from the outside world. I'm hoping NIM can get a new box today, as I can't do any of the work I'm chugging on with for dad with no internet.

Can't believe you're keeping us in suspense Birdie - how did the scones do?! I'm still struggling to get my head around you having a boy, it's like me and a girl, no matter how many times I said it to myself I just kept thinking there was a mix up! I'm enjoying browsing boy clothes though to get him a little bit when he arrives, I've never gotten to look at those as all my friends have girls and there is some really cute things.

LOL, sorry about keeping you in suspense! :o Updated on Cinny's thread - I came 5th out of 9. :o Think there was some confusion when it came to judging the presentation category as I get the distinct feeling that if I'd put them on a posh cake stand with butter in a fancy dish and some nice garnish etc they'd have come at least top 3 whilst silly me thought people would be judging the actual look of the scone rather than the pretty stuff it sits on! :p Still, we live and learn and making a big effort with presentation next week when my team mate makes cookies!

Sorry about your horrible morning. :( Sounds like the stress of rushing about certainly adds to the general feeling of 'I should be home with my baby' but we all have to pay the bills somehow. :( I'm gutted that I'm going to be back at work so soon after having Baby Birdie but there's no way around it, unless we win the lottery! :o

Hope the phone and internet are fixed ASAP, I hate for either thing to be out of action, but both would have me shaking in the corner (internet addict, moi?!).

As for having a boy, I'm well into it now! Buying his little clothes is certainly helping me picture him and TBH it's saving me a lot as if we'd had a girl we'd have about 2 wardrobes full of impractical dresses already! :o Now I just have to get my head around the strong possibility of him being a ginge! :rotfl:

Glad you had a good time Dinah and well done for coming back with all money.

I think Mum's feel guilty whatever they do. I feel guilty that i enjoy working and almost look forward to it. I love spending time with Poppy but do find it hard especially when OH works all weekend and i am on my own.

Shame on the scones and silly that they are judging on stuff like that! At least you know for next time. Bet they were yummy anyway.

Don't feel guilty for enjoying your work, Wendz! It bugs me so much that men can go back to work without comment, or stay at home and get applauded while women still struggle to do either and feel like they're properly fulfilling all 1,000 things they're expected to be. I really feel, at this point of my life, I'm turning full on feminist. I'll be the one at Kings Cross burning bras and throwing tampons at the menfolk.

Only thing I can think to say is keep on chugging, Dinah! You need something like this at work :) It won't be long until your debt is gone for good, and you can focus on staying at home. I know leaving Grace like that yesterday will probably stay with you for a while but in 17 years time Grace won't remember that. She'll remember having a Mum who stayed at home, growing up in a debt-free family and all the sweet perks that come with it.

That so cute cinny! I agree Grace will be proud whatever you do as long as it is the best thing for your family :).

Surely it's Gingerist Cinny?! Anyway, you know Gingers have no soul so surely it doesn't matter what I say?! :rotfl:

I was born with red hair, OH's brothers were full ginger (as they got older it mellowed into strawberry blonde), OH has blonde hair but the tell-tale ginger skin... it's very likely that we're going to have a little Ron Weasley! We've even discussed calling him Ron if he is a red head, but decided it may be taking things a little too far! ;)

I totally agree that menfolk still seem to get away with working without feeling any guilt from society in general as they're 'supporting their family', but women are made to feel like failures whatever they do. Such an enlightened time we live in, eh?! If only it was possible to have a decent standard of living from one average wage (not talking about bankers here, obviously!) then we could choose which parent stays home with the children whilst the other works and it'd be fine. It's that so few of us actually have the choice that bugs me.

Each freckle is the mark of a soul I've stolen :A

OH's Mum is actually scared I'll give her ginger grandchildren :o Calling him Ron would not be taking it too far, I don't think you understand how badly I want you two to use a fandom name. Surely Charlie or George would go undetected?!
