Did you use chocolate to coat them or candy coating?
  • I don't post, but I do read, the title always gets me when I see in my subscriptions,

I don't bake but this was posted in a diet group I am part of, needless to say it is not hugely successful :)

I made cake pop favours for my wedding Dinah, they turned out ok but were very time consuming! My advice (from reading lots of other people's advice and lots of trial and even more error!) is to chill the cake balls first so they harden, have the melted chocolate as cool as possible, and dip the end of the stick in chocolate first, stick it inside the ball then leave that to set before covering the rest. Mine looked pretty 'rustic' but were more or less round and reasonably secure so I doused them in glitter and called it a win :D

That name almost made me spit my coffee out, Buffy! Turtle cake sounds amazing :D

I never really understood cake pops, I know they look cute and make sense for things like party favours but all that work for one mouthful? Maybe I'm too lazy and greedy ;) They look really lovely all wrapped up, Shrimpy!

That was lovely of your Mum, Dinah :) Sometimes it is 100% what you need.

November is so close, Lara! Hope you're planning on one awesome treat when it's all wrapped up, seems like you're worked your socks off for so long.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Morning all. I think the cake pop debacle was using too hot chocolate and just sticking the sticks in the dough without putting chocolate on. I was using white chocolate too, which I added a little cream to to stop it clumping and I don't think that helped matters.

Spent Saturday ebaying, so have about £350 on there if everything were to sell for the initial price as mum had Grace so NIM could get some sleep after a night shift. Yesterday went to York races and then a meal after for a hen do. I'd already paid the £30 for the entrance ticket and train fare weeks ago, I did okay on the horses ending up less than £1 down. Mum paid for our bottle of wine, and the meal on the evening so no real spends from me in the end. Had a nice day for it though. Came home and both NIM and Grace are stuffed full of cold, so a very unsettled night as I was up until 1.30 in the morning with her laid on my chest so she could breathe, and me trying unsuccessfully to sleep mostly upright against a radiator with only a giant teddy for comfort. She woke up again an hour later and NIM took over so I at least got 4.5 hours sleep before work.

Need to get on building dads website this week, working Mon, Tue and Wed so might be later in the week before I really get down to it.

Glad you had a good day out. Well done on ebay too!

Poor Grace, hope she feels better soon. I went out on Sat night and didn't go to sleep till 1 and then Poppy woke at 5.20 which is very unlike her so i was so tired yesterday!

Wow loads of work done Dinah! Sounds like lots to do on the website - hope it goes super smoothly.

Cinny, I cant wait to celebrate, maybe with a house party! Then we are going on hols to Madeira in December for 10 days, so that will be a lovely treat. We booked a lush hotel for 3 nights and then a little apartment for the rest. It was very cheap though from London overall and Mum and Dad gave us some pennies towards it, wich was nice.

Harsh though, every day towards the hols is also a day closer to my deadline. So trying not to look forward to it too much!

Oooh red velvet cupcakes sound delish! I make some eyeballs for Halloween a couple of years back, I was ridiculously pleased with them! Congrats on the raffle win too, nice to win something useful that's still a treat if you know what I mean.

Sounds like you had a lovely time at the races Dinah. Hope NIM and Grace get well soon. Also, I really badly want to pay £12.75 off your debt :o

Must feel good/scary to be nearing the end Lara! Is it your VIVA in March...? (I may have totally misremembered that name!) Congrats on the internship too!
