I meant look for flights then book the hotel yourselves. It may work out as an affordable holiday for next year.
You could always go to Florida but head to the coast... but then you're not getting the super cheap Orlando hotels. Hmmm, it's a toughie! It's still a great place just to hang out getting a tan, but the temptation to spend is so great I don't know if you'd be able to resist the lure of the bright lights!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
What kind of bright lights are there in Florida that would lure our money?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Attractions, shops, theme parks etc. Orlando's landlocked so unless you want to drive 2 hours to the beach you may get bored of sitting by the pool day-in, day-out. If you plan on doing that, you'll have to spend a bit extra to get hotel with a really good pool. And look for a hotel that has apartments so you can cook for yourselves if you don't want to eat out every night. The Sheraton where we stayed 2 years ago had a great pool, big rooms and BBQs for guest use so it's the kind of place you could easily spend your holiday at. Something like an Econolodge, not so much!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

a 4* hotel in Kensington booked for the night so NIM and I can make a proper grown up weekend of it.
Oh aye *wiggles eyebrows*
It's nice to have you back, Dinahalthough I am shocked you forgot about us
I know it might be hard with NIM's wage being hard to pin point, but why don't you put a SOA together and maybe we can help? I just hate seeing you still chugging on with debt this many diaries down the line! Have to say, you do sound (well, in a typey way!) the most content you have in a while. I think putting things to bed by writing your book is doing the world of good for you
Will admit, I forgot all about awesome august. I guess that was the point, though?!0 -
Glad to hear that you are ok Dinah, have been wondering where you have got to!
I agree with Birdie, dont get caught up in booking a holiday just for the sake of the airmiles, you dont want to get into more debt just for a holiday.
Holidays for us at the minute are any cheap last minute deals we can get to cottages etc in England and we still have a great time
Glad to hear that you and Grace are having lots of fun at the minute. I am trying to cram as much in as possible with Noah before I have to divide my attention, which means he is probably getting far too spoilt at the minuteBiggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Dinah, can you find out about the airmiles? I am just about to book New York for us so if you can book it for someone else maybe we could do a deal? I could book BA airmiles on my brother's name, I had to call them though.0

Agreed, you sound really happy Dinah
Glad you had a lovely honeymoon Poolie, I went to the HP studio tour at the weekend and was thinking how great the themepark must be. Is butterbeer as disgusting over there!?
I'm getting ready to move countries, only north of the border though - scared the referendum will go through and I won't be allowed back! It's all getting pretty stressful trying to coordinate everythingWork are not being helpful considering that's why I'm going grrrr.
Happy almost holidays Birdie!

Great to see you back Dinah and you do sound very happy!
Birdie - hope you have a brilliant holiday!
Shrimpy - glad you had a lovely honeymoon
Apologies that I haven't been around either. August is the busiest month for my job and was working 4 days a week for 3 weeks. I am off for a week this week as Max started pre-school today and I wanted to around for him. He loved it today though! I will be so glad to be back to my 2 day week from next week though. I was wrecked, the kids were all over the place and my house was a tip! I hope I never have to work full-time or we would be a mess!
I agree with the others Dinah, don't feel like you have to use the airmiles. Kids like the simplest of things. We are lucky to live a 10 minute walk from the beach and the thing they loved this summer was trying to catch crabs in the rock pools, avoiding all the jellyfish (huge drama and excitement with this!) and just running in and out of the water. Another thing they loved was going to the local castle and parks and bringing a ball each and kicking it down the hill! We brought them here http://www.imaginosity.ie/ one of the days and spent a fortune and Max said his favourite thing was the cake!!! I just think young kiddies like simple things and being surrounded by the parents and close family
Re: having number 2, yes you do have split the time, but your heart just expands with love and it is hard to remember what it was like with just one. My 2 are so close now and miss each other when they are apart. They don't even like being separated for an hour. It is such a personal decision though, and what is right for one person isn't for another xTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Not to sound cruel but the holiday is more for us than grace, as you say they're happy anywhere and we take her to the park or beach almost every day, but its 18 days now since NIM and I had a day off together, last night was the first night jn 2 weeks we were both even at home before 8.30. Two weeks as a family just sounds blissful. I also fancy it as vitamin d deficiency has been linked to pre-eclampsia, I got my test results back a few weeks ago and my levels are rather impressively 2% of what is normal. If we're trying again I need to get them much higher first.
You're right though, I happy atm. I wish I could kick our finances into shape but otherwise I have everything I could want.
