I'm sorry to hear about your mum ROTE *hugs*
And that's so scary about the break in Dinah. Glad nothing was taken. Our neighbour's house was broken into while they were on holiday and we were looking after it. Felt so awful but there was nothing we could have done; they came while we were out and it was only when we went to feed the guinae pigs that I noticed the kitchen window was smashed.
All the crafting sounds wonderful Birdie, and I'm intrigued by the canned pumpkin.
Nothing much going on here, just swamped with work (this is technically my "lunch" break) and starting to get a move on with wedding things. Looks like we're making the invitations now as OH has changed his mind about the ones we originally picked. Oh well, it should work out a bit cheaper this way! I'm not remotely crafty so might be asking for some tips and tricks along the way!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

How are you getting on at school now Tete? Any better days or are the kids still working their tickets as my Mum would say?!
Important crochet update: I'm making a scarf and it actually looks like a scarf! :j It has stripes and everything. If I finish this I shall wear it all winter and it will be my pride and joy, as long as it doesn't unravel!
Ruby- canned pumpkin is just what it sounds like! The pumpkins you get in the supermarkets at this time of year are pretty much just grown to be carved into lanterns and aren't terribly nice to eat so I buy an American brand (Libby's) of canned stuff to bake with. An American guy I used to work with gave me a recipe for pumpkin pecan cake that is scrummy and always goes down a treat! _drool_
I'm happy to answer any questions/offer opinions for your invitation making.Or...you know, The Robyn's Nest is always up for doing commissions!
Oh, on the subject of The Robyn's Nest, I'm in a mums group on FB and there's a few crafty ladies on there, all doing different things, and a few days ago one of the ladies asked us all to share our pages as she wanted to buy some Christmas presents. She ended up ordering a frame from me.2 days ago she then tagged me on the thread asking where to buy frames and Scrabble tiles and what kind of glue to use as she was going to try to make a frame for her mum. Is this a bit cheeky or what?! I answered her as I thought it'd be rude to refuse to but made a joke about her depriving me of sales if I give away my trade secrets but I'm a bit miffed that she just thinks, 'Oh, if she can just throw some bits together in a frame then anyone can'. One of the other ladies sent me a PM ranting about how cheeky she was being which made me feel better, but still a little annoyed. I've spent a lot of time and money on my hobby and just trying to make a little money out of it now I feel like I've got something worth selling and people are just deciding to copy me! Pfft, I hope her attempt looks rubbish.
And on a happier note, I recommend the lovely Dinah's mugs! I ordered one for my friend's birthday and got a custom design done in super quick time that she was well impressed with!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Way to go on the scarf!! I can't crochet for toffee
That is really cheeky about the woman who ordered the frame, like you said it's not as easy and just throwing stuff in a frame. And even if it was, straight up stealing your idea just isn't cool! I'd have told her the contact number for your craft supplies was 0800-go-f*ck-yourself
Dinah's mugs are awesome, I brought mine to work and it sits in rotation with my Tom Kitten mug. I've got to have had it for a year and a half by now? No wear on the design at all :A
Jealous of the pumpkin, Birdie! I have a few cans sitting in my basket on Ocado but we don't need enough to warrant a food shop orderIt's also sitting with a case of AriZona iced tea :happyhear

Thanks everyone, my Dad is doing really well and we are starting to get over the shock.
Really sorry to hear about the break in Dinah. We have an alarm and we put it on all the time but when OH was working away I was afraid to put it on in case it went off. Seriously, if that thing went off while I was asleep I would literally lose my life!
Birdie - I think that was very cheeky indeed. You had to figure it out for yourself so why shouldn't she. Your stuff is amazing. I will defo be ordering once we EVER get a house.
How are things this week Tete? Better I hope.
Any news on the dress Ruby?

The crochet has been a big struggle to get my head around. The first couple of rows are very dodgy indeed as I was making up a stitch by accident
but that's part of the beauty! I doubt I'll ever be able to make shapes as I can't concentrate on counting stitches and lose count after 3!
Glad you agree with me about the cheeky lady! It's not even like my stuff breaks the bank so it's cheaper to do it yourself; believe me, people are getting a bargain for the supplies and time put into it! May have to go and edit my reply to her with Cinny's genius response! Even down to the photo editing stuff I use, I found it and figured it out myself, why should I have to then tell all and sundry how I did it? Even getting annoyed with one of my friends who must ask me for the name of the program once a week- either download it and shut up or don't bother and shut up. Either way, !!!!!!!
On another positive note though, I've had 2 enquiries/pending sales this morning at work! :T Screw doing actual work, I'm only here to advertise and get more sales!
Glad your Dad is doing well CMD.Are you house hunting now that the flat sold or are you still waiting and saving?

** Sneaks in **
Hello to anyone that might remember me!
Have not been around for a very long time, and for quite a few good reasons. Been very hectic here recently with our landlord deciding to sell our house and leaving us with no where to live and leaving the money situation shocking!! And I have been doing a very good ostrich impression with my head in the sand with it
How is everyone?
I must of missed loads!!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Hi Flower! Trying to remember which one you are, did you come to the vintage fair that time? Sorry, I've been away for an age too and lost track! Rubbish about the house situation, are you in somewhere new now?
That is very cheeky Birdie, I'd be so miffed off! But would probably have done the same as you TBH! It's one thing to ask someone for tips when they do it as a hobby (e.g. me and crochet) but not when they're selling - just blooming buy it!
Kids are still mostly horrible. In one lesson though a girl brought me an A4 side of Spanish she'd written at home just for fun (albeit with Señor Google's help), so I said I'd mark it for her and give her feedback (more work for me :wall:) ... then it that very same lesson caught a lad stabbing his mate in the neck with a biro  I mean !!!!!!. So I held them both back at lunchtime and the stabee said "Oh it was my fault miss, I twanged him in the face with my pencil first, I admit blame"! It's quite funny when you look back on it but seriously, I was ready to twang them both in the flaming face at the time!

It's a shame you can't just give kids a clip round the ear nowadays!
Even when I was that age I didn't *get* those idiots who did such stupid stuff!
Nice to see you Flower! Rubbish about the stressful housing situation but glad things are getting sorted. Hope the littlies are well.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
