Urgh, so sorry to hear that Dinah. :( Have you been given a time frame for when you'll be going? Is this something you're willing to accept or can you argue it? (if you want to?) Is the redundancy package half decent?

Lara, I'd say go for the temp work once you're feeling less morning sicknessy. If you don't like it, it's only temp work and you're not stuck there for a long time and sometimes you can find it opens doors so it may be good for a bit of networking. Any extra money when you've got a baby on the way will always be welcome, I'm sure!

I can and will argue it as they've done it in what I believe to be a really unfair way, marked me down on all kinds of grounds like problems with my work quality - I have 8 years of perfect 6 months reviews, if my work had problems surely someone should have brought it up at some point in the last 3000 days? They've also calculated my sickleave on the highest point of my entire employment - when I was waiting for knee surgery. Why they picked that point is beyond me unless they picked it as a way to get me out. I just feel completely downtrodden, if I felt they'd done it fairly then I would be sad but accepting, but to criticise my work seems very personal. End of the day they've made it clear me arguing my score is a paper exercise and I'm going, so it'll be time to seek legal advice next week I think.

That does seem terribly unfair to take that time around your knee op as an example of your sick record. It stinks of trying to make reasons to get rid of you really! I'd also be steaming about criticising your work considering you've had nothing but positive feedback. Just stinks all over. :( Hope the legal advice gets you somewhere. Are you in the 'notice period' now?

That sounds really unfair, definitely fight it!
  • Rubbish :( Sorry to hear it, are they offering a decent redundancy package?

Sorry to hear about your job Dinah, I agree it does sound very unfair. If you haven't spoken to them already, ACAS offer free advice on employment matters. I'm sure you already know that but thought it was worth a mention.
