It's not an exciting tattoo - I got a bit mocked by the man that did it :o It's a star on the back of my neck - will pop it in the fb group if anyone wants to see? OH has something a bit similar on his arm and I kinda wanted something to mark us getting hitched - hope that's not too cringey to admit to!

  • Hi all, I haven't been around for a while. I have been ill for weeks with the flu, chest infection, noro virus and then another cold. Finally starting to feel human again. I have started taking regular vitamins and I am busy organising my house and money as we move into the new year.

Hello! Happy New Year to you all! Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. :)

We had a good Christmas, spent some time on Christmas morning and Boxing Day at my brother's with my very excited nephew. He was so cute and good (for once! He can be a bit of a terror! :p), he had no idea what was happening, just that *something exciting* was going on, he was super cute the whole time and it made us so excited for next year! :) Got some nice pressies but OH and I were on a budget that he stuck to religiously so I can't say I got anything amazing from him, the best thing was the new bedsocks! :o My Mum is awesome though and got us a Fortnum and Mason hamper which is gorgeous! :D

We hosted OH's family for dinner and it went well but we decided after realising how much it cost (well over £160!) that we're not offering to do it again for a good few years; there are other people perfectly able to host and the £50 that MIL gives us for food barely even covers the meat whilst the brothers are totally unappreciative of anything, they just turn up for a feed and want to leave again ASAP. They even sat and watched me, OH and MIL clean up afterwards even though I was clearly struggling to move about and OH had just spent all day cooking! Lazy gits, it took a lot of effort to bite my tongue there but OH has been told that it's the last time I'll have them round for a loooooong time! :p

Had a quiet NYE, we went out for a nice lunch with my parents instead of an evening meal and just stayed in watching a movie and NYE telly until 11.45 (I was so proud of myself for staying awake!) then wandered into the town centre for midnight which was soooo lame! :p We can't decide if it was a really bad year or if it's always that pathetic and we've been too drunk to notice! :rotfl: Was nice to wake up feeling fresh yesterday though! Well, as fresh as I can feel nowadays! :)

I've only got 11 working days left now (well, 10 and a half since it's nearly lunchtime!) and I'm so excited! :j Not sure what I'm going to do with myself when I'm off work as I'm finishing 3 weeks before I'm due but I'm planning on lots of rest, a bit of craft and catching up on TV shows that I never got round to watching! :)

    Happy New Year everyone!

Birdie - Sounds like a nice relaxing festive period, which will probably be a stark contrast to next year!

Things were pretty quiet round here; although DF's mother tried her best to stress me out. First she moaned that my parents hadn't sent her a Christmas card (they had, it was just delayed in the post), then she complained that I had to go and see my nan in her care home rather than have lunch with them on boxing day and finally yesterday she thought we were both ignoring her when she tried to call and wish us a happy new year. We were in fact in the cinema watching Anchorman 2, which I have to say, was a bit of a disappointment.

It's nice to be back at work if I'm honest!

So exciting you are nearly finished at work Birdie eek! Sounds like you had a good Christmas . Does sound very expensive hosting Christmas so don't blame you not wanting to especially with a little one next time.

Ruby - sounds like the mil was a pain !

Our Christmas was lovely. We spent Christmas Day at my mums . Poppy was so appreciative of each present and had to look at each one which took ages. She seemed to get the Father Christmas thing too which was lovely . Boxing Day we saw oh's family and Poppy got a load more presents!

I am off work today and Poppy at nursery so have been sorting her old toys for the loft as we are running out of room!

I can't believe how grown up Poppy is getting now Wendz! She's so cute, lovely that she got the Father Christmas thing this year too! :) When we were young we always had to have a clear out of toys before Christmas as we wouldn't be left any presents if the Big Man didn't think we had room for them! :p

Bless you for having a tiresome MIL Ruby! Bet you're glad it's all over for another year! Have you got a date for the wedding now? :)

I *may* have snapped a little at my MIL the other day as she talks to my belly rather than my face now, only asks how the baby is and randomly touches my bump without asking. Told her I'm not a vessel and it's not her body to touch! :p I know she's excited, but I haven't felt like a person for months, I'm just the incubator for her grandchild! :o She may be in for a shock when she finds out that she's not having him 5 days a week once he's here too! :p

Happy new year everyone! Sounds like you all had nice Christmases. I can't quite come to terms with being back at work after a week and a half off!

We had a nice Christmas too, pretty quiet and uneventful! Mostly it just made me massively broody tbh! (Not that I wasn't beforehand!)

Birdie, so exciting to have nearly finished work! The times seems to have flown by (not sure if you would agree!) How are you feeling?

I'm thinking about reviving de-junk January as I really felt the benefit of it last year, started with a little sort out on NYE but definitely more to do.
