Major problems with car.. One garage blaming the other& vice versa. Where do I stand?

Tsia, it seems that your getting wound up because your not getting told what you want to hear.... But many different replies are saying a similar thing, it's not the fault of the second garage, the fact they never fitted the pipe is not their fault, as they wasn't given one by you/seller. They agreed to fit the parts supplied and they did. Chase the seller not the garage!0

Also, from those other links i posted and was reading myself (I used to work as an apprentice mechanic and i'm a fan of diesels, but only work on cars as a hobby now) it seems like even if they did replace feed pipe, it would have been terminal due to a unforgiving design of engine & turbo.
The turbos die on these engines due to sludge or excessive carbon deposits.
The work that will be needed on this car to guarantee long term reliability won't be a worthwhile investment. Long ago diesels were know for their reliability, but the modern ones can be quite troublesome due to the technology needed for low emissions and the strain on them to have longer service intervals and produce more power. All your base are belong to us.0 -
I found this, which should came in useful.
It's a case study of a 1.6 HDI engine which had repeated turbo failures over a short period of time.
It shows why the turbos kept failing in this instance, and at the bottom recommended (and extensive!) steps to use when replacing the turbo on these engines due to the sludge build up

The one below has similar steps when replacing the turbocharger as well and this is from a company that specialises in turbo replacement.

You might have some come back to the second garage for either not following the correct procedure when replacing the turbo as per the info above, or by mis-diagnosing the fault when they said faulty turbo. All your base are belong to us.0 -
Easily said than done captain awesome.
And they cannot sell my car.. That is THEFT. the definition of theft is to permanently deprive the owner of an object.
Aaaaand you are wrong.

Tsia have you seen this on the CAB website?

Personally I would reject the car and get a refund from the seller.0 -

The courts can decide whether the car is to be sold, not the mechanic. It can't be sold while it is being disputed, but the mechanic can charge storage and insurance on the vehicle while it is being disputed.
I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the garage, they've done the work asked of them and just want to get paid.0 -
the sedind garage said what was required to repair a the car.
you then supplied parts with no instruction to replace the pipe you assumed they would replace it.
i mentioned earlier in my post about the DV6 engine, the garage would have had a bulletin about them and what it requires to make good, and they advised you about it, the pipe, you said ok ill get the parts and you fit them to wich they did the pipe was not supplied, the pipe did not get replaced as there was no instruction from you.0 -
Well the claim for monies back unde credit consumer act is in place.. Then they look into the whole thing.
Shall I pay the garage number 2 the money for the EGR valve on the credit card too? Will I get that back also as its associated with the faulty product that was purchased?0 -
The second, the repairing garage, has nothing to do with your car problems. Don't go paying them by cc expecting to get money back from Section 75, that would be plain and simple fraud.
Does the repairing garage still have the car? I'm sure they will be exercising their lein and you will find it parked many rows deep in their compound until they are paid in full.0 -
Section 75 makes the CC company equally liable for any breaches of contract, including any terms implied by law. It's not a way of getting your money back willy nilly - they will often investigate a claim and won't pay out if they disagree.
And your husband being a cop is wholly irrelevant. As laughable as when people say 'my son is a lawyer ya know' 'ye, sure he is madam'0
