It beggars belief that anyone is taking the OP seriously. Just let the thread wither and disappear guys...please!

    Well,
To all the consumers: happy ending. Robert Dyas resolved the problem by giving the customer vouchers about to the value of the item. The item can now safely go in the bin, together with all the nasty remarks of "regulars" on here. One more victory for the consumer, and great customer service from Rd management, who agreed with the undersanding that I presented on here.

In the end the company acted properly and reasonably. Good for their reputation.

I had some fun time going through the threads started by people who were worst at badmouthing my info on here. Interesting reading, makes things very clear.

17 kg is a weight of a 5year old, not a toddler, by the way.

So, those posters who called me names such as "fool", "nuts", "dumb" and other offensive words, I hope they do not have the same interesting opinion about the RD manager who fully agreed with my opinion?

Good to see you are still resorting to personal abuse that the forum team feel the need to remove.

    Classy.

There is no personal abuse in my comments. However, you will see that I have been subjected to personal abuse and name calling, which is well against the rules, not that I mind. Would you please take care of those posters who find it appropriate to call other people "idiots" "dumb" and "nuts!", and then feel free to care of other matters.

My advice was right. This is what matters.:)

Yeah...ok. Even if they did give you the vouchers (which I doubt) it doesn't make you right. It makes the company look good and keep your business, its a commercial decision (and one to get you off their back) rather than a legal one.

    Bye Bye....

I can pick up my 5 year old with one arm easily
his mother is 5' 1" and can lift him without issue
perhaps she needs to cut down on the porridge if it gives her freakish strength

So is that why in the edited bit on your post on the 2nd MSE moderators actually put the reason as personal abuse.

I think OP that is what is called a 'DOH' moment.

Goodbye again (hey I am liking this bye byeing!)

    What a bizarre thread!

Would I be right to summarise that the OP does not understand the difference between a goodwill gift and a legal obligation?

It is irrelevant what you do with your child, people are different, and their health and circumstances are different.
What is relevant that it is good for consumers to know that, when they are sold a heavy, bulky product of bad quality, they do not have to suffee significant inconvenience in returning the item. The item can be collected or, simply, refunded . It is the trader's problem how to get the item back physically.

Do not you like this rule? I find it strange that anyone would be against such simple consumer right.
you want to be sold a rotten wardrobe and have to carry it back half assembled? I am sure you don't.
