You are lucky then, i used to go to a quick fit for MOT, then they tried to sell me tracking, when they went to do it said my track rod ends were knackared and that woulld be £150.
Said i would think about it, got 2 track rod ends went to my mechanic and he said nothing wrong with them.
Not been back to that branch since.
Same branch quoated me £700 for tyres, said i could get them for £400 odd else where, "thats no problem we will match that" why rip me off in the first place?
So they operate like almost every othere business. They don't quote their lowest price first.
Many businesses use these places too and the company car drivers don't care about the price, they just want the tyres. I know ours don't.0 -
I would have been delighted with the tyres, I pay £780 for 3 Continentals.
MOT - not a bad price but I paid £20 two months ago when I got my Dad's car MOT'd.
You possibly did overpay on the tyres. Anytime I have looked at Kwik Fit, it has been cheaper to pay online and they have never once been the cheapest either.0 -
Much like any other online only retailer I would expect to pay less than going to an outlet somewhere.
They offer different services. Blackcircles for example would not have sent someone out to replace a leaky valve for free, but when I popped in to KF to see if I had a puncture that's exactly what they did.
Again, when I last bought tyres one a had failed and needed replacing immediately (scrubbed out the inner wall) whilst KF were not the cheapest they were not far off, looking at a couple of places online I couldn't get the tyres changed same day of even the next day, so £40 saving but no car for 2 days.
Now I need fronts, I can take my time and get the best deal, but sometimes just being able to pop into my local KF is easiest. But by the sounds of it my local KF are quite good compared to the stories on here.0 -
well...I've just had my grotty fiesta MoT'd...cost £40, with a number plate bulb replaced, and a heatshied re-secured included. [I asked them to do the heat shield..the rattle was annoying me...now all I can hear is the back suspension thumping!
The man said I'd need new rear bushes for next year.....[they do it, axle-out! My first thought was...are the bleed nipples seized?]....but it wasn't an advisory...just ...friendly advice.
By then, the fester will be showing in excess of 140,000 miles....that'll be at least 40,000 miles of pure hatred I will have endured!
Bl@@dy thing even burped at me today, when I'd parked it....got an abrupt look from a passing lady!
[yup, forgot to open the heater just before I stopped....if I forget, the trapped air bleeds out in one ginormous burp.]
My family now demand I drop them off at the end of the street!
Not posh enough for Kwik-fit, obviously? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

The thing with Kwik Fit is, it is usually cheaper online but you still need to go to the same 'outlet' to get the work done.
Have a look at their website - MOT £30 when booked online but the OP paid £35. The MOT would be done at the same time at the same place but two different prices.
I'm no Kwik Fit basher. I rarely use their services but whenever I have over the years, I have never had a problem apart from once quite some time ago.0 -
Price looks about right going on the £73 per tyre, it is an expensive brand of tyre which drives up the price. It would be useful if there was somewhere online where you could put in what was wrong with your vehicle and get back an idea of the cost.0

Seems pretty OK for me. A conti for my car is around £150 a tyre. MOT is an OK price too, doesn't seem like you've been ripped off.0

Relative to your original question in the thread heading, KWIKFIT dont discriminate against women - they try to screw everyone over.
