Thanks, everyone. It looks like my other half got it all wrong thinking he would have done all this for half the price!! ;-)

If you had haggled a bit, you might have got the wheel alignment cheaper or for free with the new tyres, but I guess you just left the car with them and paid a bill on collection?

If you are on site, they generally come and see you and try to talk you into things, they do have some discretion on pricing services, but they usually can't budge on the price of tyres.

They rang me (as I wasn't waiting in their office) and when discussing different tyre prices, they offered the cheapest ones first and did not pressurize me into buying the most expensive ones.

That doesn't seem too bad though personally I would've gone for 4 tyres, or if the other one still had loads of tread, 2 tyres and put the spare on (assuming full size spare) until the one good tyre is worn down.

I was thinking the same. Kwik Fit usually have an offer on when you buy 4 tyres too.

As others have said what you were charged sounds pretty standard for Kwik-Fit, no evidence of you having been charged more based on your gender.

As a tip for the future, check your tyres a little while before the MOT, then if they need changing you can spend a bit of time looking into what tyres you want and what the best deals are rather than just going with whatever the MOT garage has in stock.
