Haha thanks SG :) I thought so. Possibly forward thinking given that I was born in the winter ;)

I think it's more likely that those born in September (did you notice at school just how many September birthdays there were?) are the product of their parents getting carried away and slipping up on the contraception front over the festive period.

But some September babies are planned:p

The fact that of the three people who live in this house two of them have late September birthdays is pure coincidence:rotfl:and one of them was over 2 weeks overdue anyway. We'd been trying to conceive for a few months before we did!

Having said that - the maternity ward was chock-a-block!

That was us! Or should I say the other half...he decided all of a sudden after picking my nan up from London and having a 'few' drinks, that he wanted to create a baby and conveniently forgot the condom (he was reminded but he didn't care :D).

Eldest was due mid September but arrived early October. Middle son was a planned child but we really didn't think about planned season of arrival, we just started trying as soon as we could after eldest....took 3 years and fertility treatment but he was due on eldest's birthday and arrived mid October.

Youngest was a complete accident conceived on our summer holiday, due end of April, born late March...

All 3 have high intelligence levels but the younger one (the brightest one out of the lot), barely shows it at school due to issues in the support of his complex autism.

Re the actual OP, I have always had to supply my own cake when we had parties but they grew out of kids parties a fair few years ago, so things have most probably changed.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

make cake, slice and wrap at home. ice a polystyrene fake cake and put a candle on it so she can blow it out, hand out the cake when the children leave. what are they going to do? have you arrested?

I've always supplied the birthday cake for my DD's birthday, not heard of it not being allowed before.

I think the rainbow cake sounds gorgeous, I made a chess cake for my DD's birthday this year (her choice).

I'm a very early September baby and I found school frustrating as I was expected by staff to be the mature one and set the example to the younger members of my class/school.

It played a part in my decision to leave school at 16, as I needed to get away from that expectation. When I left I was nearer 17 than 16 and some of my classmates weren't even 16!
Proud to be dealing with my debts
    DD Katie born April 2007!

Pathetic rules considering the occasion, so I would suggest that the OP votes with her feet, and takes her business elsewhere.
It may be worthwhile letting others know about the policy of the place via FB or the like.

It is hard to follow the thread since it was hijacked by the Guardian Educational Supplement editorial team

Yay. :j Brill news OP. :T I agree with the others, they were trying to get extra money out of you, when they learnt they instead were going to lose a potential booking, they came up from a 'compromise'

I hope your daughter has a fab day at the place and enjoys her rainbow cake. A friend of mine who makes cakes recently posted pics of the one she did for her son's birthday and it was amazing.

  • I always just turn up with the cake and say, "you don't mind me bringing the cake, do you" with a smile. Not asking, telling :p
