Not allowed to take birthday cake to daughters party?

My dd is due to turn 6 in August and I phoned a local animal cafe to book her party. We ran through figures, price per head minimum number of guests etc and then the lady said I wasn't allowed to provide my own cake due to food hygiene reasons.
Now my daughter has had parties before and this has never been mentioned before and we have attended parties and it has never been mentioned.
Is this right? Can they do this?
Thanks

They can do what they like. A business doesn't have to allow you to take your own food in.0

I meant, is there reasoning legitimate? I think for the sake of a home made cake they are going to lose a lot of money on a party.

Take your business elsewhere, I certainly would and I would take great pleasure in telling them so.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Firstly, congratulations on having a LO that has a summer birthday - a well-planned move that she will thank your for, for the rest of her life!
Could the venue's policy have something to do with storage conditions? Or a veiled way of making some commission on arranging a birthday cake?
Because if they can cater, I don't see what the problem is. I say this having ordered a cream cake for 200 for a big birthday celebration (the restaurant had no objection to storing this a couple of hours before the party started), and supplied my own cake at a much smaller birthday tea at a restaurant, which was a last-minute arrangement. Bear in mind that is just my experience, I don't know what the law states about these matters but I suspect that the refusal is a commercial decision. In which case I would ask your DD's friends mother's advice and pick another venue, or take advantage of the summer and have a party in the back garden.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Do they provide a cake in the price?Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

I would say it's a legitimate reason in that they won't know what's in the cake so it wouldn't be approriately labelled. However, they don't need to give a reason as such, it's their decision.0

Yes, I believe it comes down to their own responsibility for ANY food served on their own premises, hence they don't allow people to bring anything in.
Do they provide a cake?
Or could you just take your booking elsewhere, or have the cake outside?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

No, conveniently they quoted me for a cake that they would make. The thing is dd had asked me to make her a specific cake (a rainbow cake with various layers) so I'd like to do that for her.PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

They said I'm not allowed to even cut the cake on the premises (to dish into party bags!) personally in all my years I've NEVER heard this before, hence why I am asking.PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03
