Except when you are a child and have your birthday in the school holidays when everyone is away/busy/forgets
DD's is 31st July, I've learned now to make sure she has her party before the end of term.
I'm sure she'll appreciate it more when she grows up though, much better than a b/day in February like her poor mumAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Oh, fair enough. I thought you were making a sarcastic comment about the fact that there is a trend for summer babies to underachieve in education.0 -

If you bring a cake into their kitchen that has a nut crumb on it and that gets transferred to their kitchen which then in turn gets transferred to a sandwich and a child eats it and has an anaphylactic seizure it would be the businesses fault for letting outside food into their kitchen.
I don't think this would hold up. An employee could have a nut crumb on their clothing. I don't believe the business would be liable if this happened, although it might be an interesting test case (not for the poor sod in anaphylaxis though obv.)."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

My birthday is August and I like it, but I am an age I am not too bothered remembering I am another year older!
Best of all its usually when we are off on holiday, one of my favorite things, you can keep birthday cake, give be an ice beer and a Greek fry-up any day.
Oh and I didn't too bad at school either - 8 O'levels passed.0 -

Is there?
Me and the OH are end/middle of June babies and we both did really well in school

When we had a Birthday meal after a bowling event in Frankie and Benny's restaurant they brought out the cake with the candles on it and all sung Happy Birthday, but the cake was put back in the box and handed back at the end. I would have thought that it is part of the party to have a cake with candles and everyone singing Happy Birthday. You could ask to bring in a polystyrne dummy cake (they are cheap on ebay) with huge ribbon and bow with candles on it for the the birthday cake blowing out of candles part as there could be no objection on the basis of food hygiene or allergy issues.
But as previously mentioned then this would not be the cake t daughter requested to eat amongst her friends and family.PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

Depends really, if you're the mother of a child with nut allergy and ask them if they have a nut free kitchen you'd be pretty pee'd off.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
sadly its a sign of the times im afraid...its something ive come across more than once but usually its connected to school events rather than birthday parties.
Many companies now will insist on no homemade or sourced from only them because of things like allergies or even the potential of someone making a claim against them if a child was to fall ill as a result of eating something on their premises....sadly sometimes its to do with a clause in an insurance contract rather than their unwillingness to let you supply the cake of your daughters choice
You either have to accept this or take your buisness elsewhere..but you could perhaps still make the rainbow cake to share at another time...or for her to take to school if thats something they will allow.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
