they have an offer on groupon just now for a 30"x40" photo montage and it's only £30, just in case anyone reading this thinks they are all as expensive as £200!!

Do you plan on living in a one bed flat for the rest of your life???
And 3ft (36") really isn't that big...0 -

More than likely given the cost of property in London! Honestly you would have to see it, but it totally dominates any wall.
I understand what people are saying about not upsetting friends, but can assure they would rather me say something than live with something I hate. I would feel exactly the same if the roles were reversed too.May'18 DEBT FREE!

Well why not tell them then, instead of asking a bunch of strangers who don't know you or your friends from adam?
As far as I am aware DSRs don't allow personalised items to be refunded and if there is a fault all I would expect is a reprint.
Sounds as if your friends had no idea what size the finished article would be and didn't stop to find out either.....I'm currently in the process of getting a bespoke item made and I am making sure that I know exactly what the sizing will physically look like.
Oh and by the way I would be hurt that you hated my gift whether it costs £20 or £2002014 Target;

have you already told your friends you don't like it? to be honest if you haven't I wouldn't, as much as you may say they would rather you told them, this is seldom the reality, in this situation I really don't think the retailer will be willing to take it back just because you don't like it, then you'll have upset your friends for no reason. If it were me, I would find a space where it would fit and stick it up any time you know any of those friends are coming round, then put it under the bed or in a cupboard when they won't be there. If anyone turns up unannounced, simply say the hook fell of the back or some other appropriate excuse.0

At no point have I asked what I should do about the situation, just whether anyone had been in the same situation. People have just decided to give their opinion rather than to answer the original question.
In general I would say nothing and pass on the gift to someone who could actually use it; obviously in this case that's not possible, and due to the cost if I can possibly have it changed then I will.
Given the fact that it's not going to be up in my home, I think it's better to say something now, rather than the next time they come over and are more upset by the fact it's not up and there was a possibility it could have been changed.May'18 DEBT FREE!

Are any of your friends into darts? Tell them you hate it and offer it to them for practice?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

I appreciate what you're saying, but I'm not prepared to be that dishonest with people I've known for so long or see so regularly. I haven't said as bluntly that I didn't like it, but did say to one friend that it was a bit big for the flat and she agreed and said that it might be possible to have it changed. She also said that she would rather I had it changed than live with something I wasn't happy with.May'18 DEBT FREE!

As it is a montage surely there are photos of other pals in it. Why not suggest to one of the folks who appear lots that it just wont go in your house and perhaps they might like it in theirs.0
