Love how you're assuming I have a guest room to put it in!

Anyway, no matter, I'm well aware I have no rights, but also aware that many companies offer over and above what statutory rights are so thought I might hear from someone either saying:

"Yes, this happened to me and I got nothing back" or

"They were kind enough to give me a refund when they realised that it had been made as an important gift"

    Never mind!

Why would a company take the hit on a fair bit of money, just because you don't like something?

Companies need to make a profit or there is no company.

But to get 'something' 'back' you would have had to spend 'something' in the first place. You didn't. Your friends did!

Possibly, if it were something that could be resold to another customer then the company might have taken it back - but who else is going to want a photo montage of pictures pertinent to you?

    Who mentioned a guest room?

    Anyway, here's another idea:

How about hanging it on the back of the loo door?

You do have a loo, don't you?

I think what was meant was just to put it somewhere you wont see it too often if you don't like it.
But how you can say it's not to your taste when your lovely friends got it made for you from I'm assuming pictures of you and them? is a little beyond me, I'd be thrilled they chose such a personal and thoughtful gift...

If you got a refund would you give the money back to your friends or keep it yourself?

No harm in asking, or perhaps they'd give you a heavy discount if you bought something else. It's not like they can reuse it...

How expensive and huge was it?

Would your friends not be insulted if theÝ found you'd got rid of it??

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Glad I haven't got friends like the OP.
Surely this is a wind up.

Surely it doesn't matter what anyone's experience is.

If for example I was to say, oh yes, this happened to me and company X gave my a refund, it's unlikely that your friends purchased from the same place.

The best thing to do is contact the retailer and see what goodwill, if any, they are willing to do.

Likelihood is, if anything, they will refund to the card it was paid on. And your friends will know you have returned it. And you'll be no better off...

Some very helpful point missing here.

Friends will absolutely understand that wasting the best part of £200 on an object I don't like and will never use is a huge waste. It's around 3ft square so absolutely nowhere I could put it out of the way.

In the unlikely event that they offer a refund to the purchaser then I have no doubt that they will use it to buy something more appropriate.
