Thanks for reading Sammyjo, I popped over to your diary and you seem to be making great progress already :T I agree that being happier is far more important than how much money you have, hence the reason most of us want to pay off our debts and worry less about cash I guess? NZ in November also sounds awesome, I'm very jealous.
Well I had another fun non office week working outside :j Well until today at least when the heavens opened and I got completely and utterly soaked to the skin. However as there was a bunch of us working together it actually became quite funny. With people passing round bottles of factor 50 suntan lotion that we'd been slapping on earlier in the week whilst the rain teamed down :rotfl:
On the debt busting front, I spent more than I wanted to as we went out for a pub meal to celebrate a workmates birthday. I volunteered to drive however and my colleagues paid for my soft drinks all evening :T I also have some expenses to put in next week, which is urgently needed as the current account is looking scary  The car tax is paid for another year, all the SO's and DD's have come out for the month and there's always value baked beans to live on for the rest of the month if things get really tough
Have a great weekend everyone0 -
A good weekend, only spent on food and petrol. Totaled up my expenses and have another £115 to claim so that should help the current account out a bit. :j Also had an alcohol free weekend as I had a few too many glasses of wine last week. :eek:0

A long day, 250 mile round trip to a meeting that took an hour and could have been conducted over the telephone
Never mind I did get lunch and a couple of lattes on expenses. 300+ miles tomorrow  but at least I've got someone to share the driving with and might even get breakfast and lunch out of it? Small things eh

I know what you mean about the driving, I've worked out that my car costs 9p per mile in fuel and I get 35p per mile from work, so I drive around counting up 26p per mile!! Also I always get my work lunch and coffee from Costa when I can so I can save up the points as well as claim back on expensesPay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

Not too bad a week. Loads of miles driven, so a few quid in expenses are due
Also apart from one inexpensive (but thoughtful honest:rotfl:) gift for a friend I didn't spend on anything other than food and fuel. Next week I'm away with work again so won't have to pay for meals for three days :j Now if I can just avoid the pub next week I should stay on budget but pay day can't come too soon this month!
Off to soak my weary body after a day of fitness training at work :eek:0 -
Hi I2U - your totals are looking awesome
Sounds like you're seriously clocking up the miles - great as a little lift to the income. If you're like me it's exactly a week to go to payday...going away for BH which is not going to help me much, but i am resolved on packed lunches only, and 'free entertainment'...
Hope you have a great break. Keep up the good work! :money:0 -
Thanks Breeze :T Hope you had a great time away, how did the packed lunches and free entertainment work out? I've found a picnic can be loads more fun than a McBrugerHut and it's almost certainly healthier.
So as my debt busting plan seems to be going well and after reading Mr Bloaters hilarious DFW diary I've decided to take a leaf out of his book and go for the body overhaul too. My fitness has really dropped off over the last few years & as I used to teach sports for a living and need to be fit for work there really is no excuse! Therefore the middle aged spread has got to go. Off for a run, I'll report back later on how painful it was :rotfl:0 -
Good luck with the run! I'm also trying to get rid of the middle age spread with not much luck currently lol! xMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
