I2U got a few expenses next month, but looking at your payments wow I will try and increase my cc payments. Already found by doing challenges on here I have stopped popping to shops most days and now actually know what I am spending money on.

  • That's great news about the challenges and trying to increase your CC payments C14.:T

I try to make my payment as soon as I can after payday. I've managed to get my CC debt onto a 0% card and I've budgeted to try and pay it off just before the deal ends. I also find that by paying it straight away I'm less tempted during the month, what I've not got I can't spend :)

It can mean I'm completely skint by the end of the month but I just keep thinking of that debt free day and all the cash I can transfer to savings to hopefully build up a bigger deposit for a house move :j
  • I've always been embarrassed about my debts and have kept them pretty much to myself, well apart from sharing them with you dear DFW's :rotfl:

However I was chatting to a friend at work this week who brought up CC debt and the mess he's managed to get himself into. He and his wife are DINKY's, good salaries, nice but modest house, second hand but good cars, regular but not extravagant holidays and yet they also have a load of debt? They, like most of us I guess, fell for the keep up with the Kardashians lifestyle that's peddled relentlessly by the media. Newer bigger TV's, sit on now, pay someday sofas etc. I empathised and gave him some advice (yes me the idiot that ran up the £10,500 CC bill) explained my own debt free journey and recommended this site and forum.

However what surprised me the most, was how easily I felt able to discuss my predicament, something I wouldn't have considered just a few months ago and that is down to you my friends:T It's also fairly obvious that we are not alone people :) We all have friends and colleagues who're probably in a worse position than ourselves, yet keep it bottled up and don't know where to seek help. So my new motto is to be open and honest if asked about money and not be embarrassed to say, sorry I can't do this or that, go for unneeded meals out etc as I'm happily paying off my CC.

    What's a DINKY?

I do always refuse meals out, however I have a so called friend who delights in posting pic every meal out she has been to on facebook. I think when you get in this position you find out who your true friends are. I just think how cheap I could have cooked that for:rotfl:

  • Argh spent money on clothes on-line  However it was 3 long sleeved running tops as it's getting blinkin freezing out there and another couple of pairs of running shorts as I don't have access to a washing machine whilst I'm away all week. They were all 75% off in a sale & as this is purely for my new found love :rotfl: OK hate of running I'll probably forgive myself. I can feel it doing me good and having spent hard won cash on new kit I'd better keep at it or else!! Now how do I stretch my near zero bank balance until the end of the month??? Answers on a post card, inside an envelope with any spare tenners you find lying about the place please :D

Not a big user of FB myself but 1 of my circle of friends lives on FB and up loads pics of every bl00dy meal out - even emails or texts to ask if I have seen pics of her latest afternoon tea/Sunday lunch/mid week treat etc etc

I2U - not sure how to stretch that zero balance..............Eb*y?? thats what I do - I have a shed ( in truth 3 sheds) in which I store our [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] useful items with monetary value ;) and dive in there when things look tight! Known as 'Mum's Wolf Stock' - as in keeping from the door:D

Imgamogam - glad I am not the only enduring endless meal out piccies on facebook grrrrrr.

I2U - Think I may have a similar problem this month, overpaid too much off credit cards. Chased Quidco today so got another payment being made into my account only 5.20 but it all helps. Have done the ebay thing when funds are dire but begrudge paying charges now on postage as well. Facebook have local groups sell pages around different areas, helps cashflow haven't sold a great deal on there but kept a few wolves away. Good luck and ideas pass them on to me:rotfl:
