Counting down to payday over here...
Hope you're having a great (cheap) weekend!
Know what you mean about the plan seeming a million miles away. You are doing so super well though, I reckon you may do it sooner than planned.0 -

Suppose I'm just settling in for the long haul of debt busting now. At least I can see light at the end of the tunnel and have updated my signature to show my Debt Free Date. Hopefully I might be able to shave a month or two off it?
Have a great weekend one and all, it's pay day next week, :j
That's the spirit.

Thanks BH, DFW321 & Brizzled, it's your and all the other DFW's encouragement that keeps me going :j
Up at 04:40 for an unexpected day at work and I'm not even being paid for it, oh the joy of being salaried
Never mind, home now and I should manage to claim back my fuel and lunch at least.
Payday later this week, bring it on, so I can get the debt payments straight out of my account and avoid temptation :money:
Have a great week everyone.:j0 -
A good start to the week, 2 X NSDs and lunch paid for by work today :j Have also cancelled a couple of DD's for things that were really luxuries, using the rationale that I can have these back if I want when I'm debt free and in my new home
Also found out today I'm off to the States for a week with work, which will mean eating expenses paid for a week or so & a holiday of sorts this year. It will probably be hard work all week but at least it'll be hard work in new surroundings :j0 -
Ace. Sound great.
I was in a large shopping centre today, needing to get boots for DD.Thought must get myself a work top for an event this eve....but stopped myself. Walked back out even though there was a good sale on. Made do with another I already had..small steps!

So my car insurance renewal came through today with the usual...
"You don't need to do anything, we'll just whip the cash out of your account and your cover will continue" helpful message.
Pre Light Bulb Moment me would have probably ignored it and paid up automatically. However I followed all Martin's advice on this site, got the lowest quote possible, then called my current provider who after a bit of haggling matched it. Result £115 saved and my Dad added to my policy for free :money:0 -
great news on the car insurance! Mine is up for renewal next month too. Our dog insurance was up for renewal this month and I spent at least 2 hours trawling the net for quotes only to find that the renewal quote i'd been given was in fact the cheapest. This never happens to me lol how typical! But glad I checked just in caseMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Hi DFW321, a competitive renewal quote that must be a first
& as you say, at least after checking you know you're getting good value for money :jIt was the G00gle insurance engine that found the cheapest one in the end for me. Definitely worth spending some time searching and then checking with your existing broker to see if they'll match it. Consider me a reformed Money Spending Indebted2U :money:

Definitely worth spending an hour or so doing
I change providers nearly every year lol. And always get cashback too I'm sad enough to almost look forward to renewal time and try and get my payments down
