How to sack a childminder? new one hired

I've been having niggling doubts about my childminder, and today was the last straw and I've decided that he's never going there again, but what do I say to them?
I've started the ball rolling on finding a replacement, but I'm going to be more careful this time, as I don't want to keep chopping and changing as it would be bad for my son. I have just over a week, though as I don't work half term.
I don't want to upset or fall out with anyone, but I'm really not happy with the care my son has been receiving and I would like some advice please.

you need to give your notice ( whatever period is stated in your contract)
if you dont want to send your son during the notice period you still need to pay

I used to be a childminder many moons ago when I took a career break
I think the best way to approach the situation is to point out that you are not happy with the standard of care and have consequently decided to remove your son from her care with immediate effect. make sure you give not in writing.
I know this sounds nosey but, what are your issues? If you would rather talk by PM due to the sensitivity of the information thats okI am a Mortgage Adviser

You're a total shambles - YOU'RE FIRED!
Alternatively - I have made other arrangements and no longer require your services.0 -
Actually as luck would have it, the 6 month contract expires now. I started temp work last Nov, and have just been taken on permanently, but I only signed up to the childminder for the initial 6 months.
The issues I have are that on numerous occasions, I have noticed quite lapse attitudes in caring for my son. He's just turned 2 and started going there at about 19 months.
I went to collect him once, and couldn't find him anywhere. He'd crawled out the cat flap unnoticed:eek:
another time one of the older children told me that he'd fallen out his pushchair in town and got a clonk on the head. Childminder didn't mention this and the only way he could have fallen out his pram is if he wasn't strapped in properly.
today: I was early to collect him and they'd gone out. No problem there, and when they came back, I went to let him ut the car while CM unlocked the door. There were 3 kids in the back seat my LO, and a girl,a bout 2, and one baby under1. The baby was in his car seat no problem. My son was in a car seat, but only strapped in with a lap belt (he's only 2), and the little girl was in a car seat that had straps on, but although she was strapped into the car seat, The car seat was not strapped in to the car
What if they'd crashed???
Is it just me or is this just not on??0 -
God thats shocking! I would be concerned as well. I would tell her though that you are not happy with the 'service' she is providing, if she asks tell her what you are not happy about. It may well encourage her to take more ccare in the future for the other children she cares for.
Good luck with finding a replacment for your little one

It is totally not on, and I'd be sure to let her know exactly why he won't be returning.0

Oh my god! thats unbelieveable the lazy !!!!!! I hope you are considering reporting her to OFSTED for this and also to the local authority. Even the police should be informed about that. Did she not even apologise? Does she have kids of her own?I am a Mortgage Adviser

Her kidshave all grown up but she does look after her grandkids.
I really don't know what the best thing to do really. I don't want to interfere, but if I were the parents of the little girl, I would like to know what's going on really. Trouble is I don't know them/never seen them.0 -
If these things have happened to your child imagine what else has happened to other children. I for one am horrified that the car seat was not strapped in and would report her straight away, you could be saving a life by doing so!
Dont feel bad about reporting her, any mum would want to know this is happening!0 -
Yes I think you are right Katie. I would certainly want to know.0
