Is this weird or is it me?

I think the not knocking is a little disrespectful - especially, am I right in thinking that you were staying there as well? So even if she thought it was 'normal' to just walk in on her son with someone else there it might have been nice to have a few boundaries. When I stay with my parents then they knock before coming into the room I'm staying in and when they're staying with me then vice versa - I just consider it good manners.
The naked thing I think I'd maybe consider a different issue. If my parents accidently saw me naked, eg coming out of the bathroom or something, then it wouldn't particularly bother me. If they were walking in and out when I was getting dressed I would find it a little odd but I guess that's the way our family is. There would be nothing pervy about seeing each other naked - we just respect each others privacy not to consider it commonplace.0 -

I find it quite shocking just how uptight people can be about their bodies and how they think that their parents seeing them naked could possibly have any sexual connotation, says far more about those people than the family in question. It's all just flesh, we all have it and our parents are not likely to be perverts or deviants just because they catch sight of it.
If you walk into someone's bedroom with out knocking, you might catch more than a sight he could be in any kind of position - eugh, need to clear that thought from my mind now.
And nobody is asking him or them to change, the OP is asking us if we find it weird, that is all.0 -

I'm back living at home after a period of ill health but hoping to get my own place soon. I have 0 privacy.
Dad's ok, he doesn't let anyone see him naked (including Mum). The other day I went up stairs as he was crossing from the bathroom to his bedroom. He was wearing his vest tucked in to his boxers and socks and, as we collided on the landing, he jumped, did a silent scream and put his arm across his chest (as if he had boobs) and his hand over his crotch. This was in all in seriousness. I just rolled my eyes and said, witheringly, "Oh For God Sake, Dad, its not like you're bloody naked is it?!"
He has walked in on me a couple of times on the toilet by accident but I screamed so loud that he hasn't done it in a good few years.
When I was 15, I collapsed in the shower and Dad heard the thud, broke the door open and ran in and scooped me up. When I came to, stark naked, in my fathers arms, and 15, I went BARMY! Absolutely insane. Told him never, ever to do that again and !!!!!! get me a towel! It was one of the most horrific experiences. Tbh, I think my Dad was pretty horrified too, in his head I was still about 7. I mean obviously now I'm glad he saved my life. I think. Still, my Dad will think nothing of walking into my bedroom (whilst I am in bed) to borrow a charger or some other gadget. Ditto Mum but just for anything at all. In fact, she will sit on my bed, whilst I am in it and conduct a phonecall for anything up to an hour. Luckily though...I have never seen my Dad naked and he hasn't seen me naked in nearly 14 years. Yay.
Mum is a different story. NO ONE is allowed to see her naked (including Dad) except me. I don't want to see her naked. What makes it worse is that she waltzes in and has a chat with me when I am naked. She will sit on the end of the bath whilst I'm in it. Peers at me through the (clear) shower screen. I hate it. Most of all because she comments on my body, "You need to tone those thighs up.", "You are obsessed with removing all your body hair. Its not normal.", "You should rub Bio Oil into those stretchmarks, you know.". She often walks in when I am about to step over the bath to get out and just stands there. At which point I usually say - "please could you hand me my towel?". She thinks nothing of barging in when I'm on the loo - sorry if this is TMI - even when its TOTM.
Since I was around 9, I asked her to stop walking in on me. She told me this was abnormal and people didn't like prudes. As it carried on throughout my teens she told me men don't marry prudes and I would have to undress for my husband one day so I'd just jolly well better get used to it. I wanted to scream, "Mum I'm absolutely fine with a boy I like seeing me naked, its just YOU! I'm pretty sure my "husband" won't give a bloody well running commentary!" I asked for a lock on the door for privacy. We got one. I locked the door and she hit the roof because she was the only one in the house. She asked "Why? We are all girls together?! Unless....wait a minute...do you get up to something in that bath? You'd better not be touching yourself down below!"
So it was easier just to put up with it. So I do. But that doesn't mean I'm happy with it.
In response to OP. Yes its weird. Bloody weird.0 -

My mum !!!!ed me off when I was giving birth. I wasn't actually planning on having her in the delivery room to begin with but she guilt tripped me into it and then interfered with everything.
The bit that !!!!ed me off though is she had actually sneaked her camera in and took pictures the entire time, mind this was back in 1998 so people were still using film cameras, I didn't actually see the pictures for about 3 weeks but in the meantime she had showed them to all of her friends and it was only after I went round that I found out that in more than one of the pics, my chocha is actually RIGHT THERE in the picture as my son is coming out of it and not only that, but it was my dad that pointed it out to my mum that she might want to get some paper and cover that bit of the photos up.
I could have died a thousand deaths, this is the same woman that had 6 kids yet never breastfed any of us so she went out of her way to sabotage mine and would actually make me go into another room to do it when I was at hers despite the fact I used a shawl, and here she is showing all of her besties my fandango! It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

If my mum walked in on me anytime anywhere I would freak out - she has been dead for six years:eek:
Anyway, back to the OP, yes I think it is very unusual behaviour, not good at all to have your "danglies" on display for mum to see at the age of 50:o0 -
Oh there's a couple of great stories here!
I didn't really have a problem with it, I don't think they are perves, it just struck me as a bit, um, surprising. Which it seems it is for most of us. (The thought of my Dad seeing me naked now - urk!)
I think he's just a bit of a mummy's boy to be honest with you, talks to her about all sorts of things (like our disagreements but so far he reports back that she's always taken my side and tells him off, ha) that I would consider more private, goes down to stay when he's off shift to get spoilt with home made cakes and stuff. Nothing major and considering the awful relationship some people have with their parents, I'm not knocking it. Better to be close than not.
If I stay there again I think I'll lock myself in the bathroom to get dressed in the morning, just to be on the safe side, lol.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex.
