Has anyone that moved from O2 and took a fibre product managed to get a deal?

    ex O2.

Managed to get half price fibre after my deal ran out. £10 instead of £20. I'm also paying for line rental.

I'm ex O2 and have been with Sky for about 11 months, currently paying £12.50pm (£7.50 broadband and £5 for Anytime calls. Free line rental and no surcharge for no Sky TV.
My minimum term ends in about a month and I'll be seeking a similar deal (or better)-has anyone got something in that range recently?
I don't really mind which way they cut it, on broadband or line rental, as long as I'm not paying more than my current deal. Otherwise very happy with the Sky service-my line speed is about 20% higher since the migration.
This was back in October, but I got free line rental, so £15 for broadband and anytime calls. this reduced to £12.50 when I took half price tv.

offered £5 a month broadband only....after more than 2 years free not a bad deal
  • After 12 months with sky they offered me another free 12 months broadband on condition that i took line rental with them. I was with BT so moved to sky line rental which is a little cheaper.

    A good deal i reckon.

    Ex O2 also

They offered me £7.50 a month for broadband only, for the next 12 months. Very pleasant conversation, could have done more if I'd moved my phone line to them but as I'm within my contract with BT I didn't want to do that. Tried to haggle for another 12 months of McAfee but they couldn't discount that.

Much better also now you don't have to use an 0844 (expensive) number to call them.

Might be worth giving them a call back to see if you can get it down to £5.

Contract due in March. 02 migrated. Just negotiated the same deal as others of £5.00 / month. Not bad seeing as I haven't paid a lot to o2 before migration and sky after migration.

Did ask for Fibre deals, but these are 18 months contracts. They sound good for 12 months of the 18 month contract.

Just to say, I recently did the deal of 12mths at £5/mth.
I went through to retentions and I was immediately offered *half price* £7.50/mth.
I told them that I had seen £5/mth on here, retention person had a quick chat with their supervisor, resulting in me being offered £5/mth.

Sky BB is slightly slower than my previous O2, but it has been totally reliable, so better the devil you know.:)

On a more technical note, I used to use a Netgear 834GT with custom firmware, on O2 I could tweak the snr down to 4 dB and maintain reliability.
I've found with Sky that any tweaking of snr results in frequent resyncing.
If I leave it alone at it's current 6dB, it resyncs approximately every 3 weeks.
    Downstream:6.529 Mbps
    Upstream:921.6 Kbps
    Noise margin (Down/Up):6.0 dB / 9.5 dB
    Line attenuation (Down/Up):48.0 dB / 29.2 dB
    Output power (Down/Up):20.2 dBm / 12.4 dBm
    Move along, nothing to see.

I have not signed up for a contract with Sky since I was moved from Be*. They did offer me a deal for BB and Phone for £7.50 so what people are being offered is not the best that they can offer. That was quite some time back, towards the end of last year.

My speed is quite a lot lower than I was getting at Be*. I was getting close to 7Mbit/1.3Mbit sometimes just under 7Mbit and now I get closer to 5.6MBit so considerably lower than I was getting before. The upload is a lot slower which I am not happy about. I am using a crappy 585 router after lightning destroyed my 546 that I had happily been using at Be* That allowed me to tweak the SN Margin, at least the download Margin but not the upload. Now with the 585 I can do nothing at all. I do have another 546 and 716 routers but I cannot get either working because I do not have the username and password.
    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 862 / 5,838
    Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
    Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 10.5 / 1.5
    Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 27.0 / 50.5
    SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.5 / 7.0

My upstream margin is lower than yours and yet my upload speed is lower. A little better than it was as it was under 800kbps. They did put me on a 3dB profile but it was unstable whereas I was permanently on a 3dB profile @Be* with it stable for up to 3 weeks. The 585 webpage does not get the info correct. I have had higher speeds than this@52dB in the past.

I have been thinking about moving for a long time but choices are limited. Plusnet who I would not use due to their crap upload speed or EE where the service sounds like an enormous gamble. I could end up losing my phone number which I do not want happening.

What router are you using now?
