MSE News: Sky takes over O2 and Be broadband: What does this mean for customers?

Well I just had a call from a very fast talking enthusiastic man from cardiff. Currently I am paying just over £15 for my BT landline and £9.50 for my o2 broadband. I told him I wasn't interested in the Sky TV as I don't want a dish on the side of my house and we really don't watch a lot of TV. He was fine with that and still said (by this time I had agreed to go with the £15.40 a month broadband unlimited and phone line rental) I can still opt to have the TV box withing a time period. just a bit too much to take in at once but to be fair, the offer is far better than what I am currently paying. Also, I can opt out after 12 months. I suppose if they think you will walk after that long they will pull out a few stops to keep you.
How is that a good deal that you have been talked into?
You could pay 141/12 = 11.75 for BT line rental inc. evening & W/E calls plus "£75 credit, £7.50/month (ie £15 in total for 12 months), + new router for unlimited bb. 12 month minimum term" as mentioned by others above.Do you think it is worth having for free or would it be a hassle later down the line ?
If you are asking the question then you obviously don't want TV even for free! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Just got £19.50 per month incuding line rental for a year with unlimited landlines and broadband. £40 credit too. Pretty happy with that as I was paying bt more without my broadband ontop0

If thats the case i am no better off with bt then am i as sky are offering it at just over £14 a month PLUS Sky tv.
So if i opt for the tv box i am under no obligation to continue with it , pay for the dish etc if i decide after 12 months not to continue with it ?0 -

True, but you must give 31 days notice to terminate. The box is your to keep for viewing free channels or to sell on.
I wasn't interested in the tv part, as we have two Humax Freeview PVRs, but actually, quite like it.0 -

I can see how you were hooked by the salesman as your maths is rather poor!
£11.75 + £1.25 = £13 per month.
You have agreed to pay more and you obviously don't want Sky TV, so it is not an incentive to switch your line to Sky is it! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

thanks, i see some mention getting credit, never heard of this before in getting bb, usually just say it will be £ per month and can get vouchers, hubs etc
Originally the £50 credit was offered, if the user was still in contract, to help cover costs, but some sales people seem to have started offering that, or more, regardless.0
