so sorry i have been MIA, i have been working stupid shifts, i decided to cut back on overtime for the month of june but agreed to do some in the last week ( i usually land up doing overtime the whole month) but the last week of june then the first week of july have been full of overtime, i also have a shift next week as well :( woke up yesterday at 6pm and was back in bed at 8pm, the sleep did me good though as i actually have energy today :)

i'm nights this weekend also ( starting tonight) so will be shattered :(

now one thing i have noticed which is something i have noticed before, this last week or so i have been shattered so i have been craving the energy that comes from sugar, i have been eating ridiculous amounts of the stuff :(

This seems to be a recurring theme for me, and one that i have asked for help for from various sources including a nutritionist and personal trainer, neither have been able to give me a viable alternative :( the recommended way of dealing with it was carry on doing what your doing eventually it will sort itself out, that however does not work when i have to stay awake at work and someone's life is in my hands so to speak. so i land up eating sugar and drinking caffeine :(

I really want to get on top of this but i cant seem to find a way, i don't crave the sugar so much as need the sugar or caffeine ( its usually the two that go together) i am managing to only have two coffee's when i am not working but have between 6 and 10 when i am working , i can also have 4 bars or so of chocolate, so this isnt a small problem this is a huge problem and its holding me back.

Will try and do some days of 5/2 whilst night shift

    hows everyone doing ?

When I'm at work on nights I always drink coffee with sugar and often eat chocolate. :o
I have been trying to eat grapes and bananas when at home.
I have got into eating jacket sweet potatoes and more salad but I do need to up my exercise and I need to quit the cigs :o
We are all eating more chicken and less red meat. We are also eating more asparagus (but we like them fried in butter :o), so I guess that takes all the healthy option out of it.
I did buy a couple of cabbage hearts last night (reduced to 5p each. :) )

Yes, I've done night shifts on and off for about 8 years. My body clock is shot, when I'm not at work I can't sleep until late into the night then I have to force myself to get up early or I'm in bed most of the day!
I'm going up to bed shortly as I'm at work tonight-oh joy of joys! ;)

    Hi all.
Well, since I last posted on here I have:
    1) started to eat more healthily
    2) tentatively started to exercise
    :)
Last night I ate 3 chicken skewers (chicken, courgette, onion, peppers, mushrooms) grilled with a jacket sweet potato. :) I also had a piece of weightwatchers carrot cake.
This morning I had a banana and 2 slices of whole meal toast.
I'm drinking less tea and more water and No added sugar squash (dilute). I am also eating more fruit.
Main diet is going to comprise of mainly chicken or fish. Note, went to supermarket the other night and noticed fresh salmon costs a fortune but I got 5 frozen salmon fillets for £3 :)
I have been recording some of the exercise workouts on sky and have slowly started to do some of them
I also would like to invest in some kettle bells-so will be looking out for the best deals, if anyone hears or knows of any please shout up. :)

wooo hooo well done tatty, kettle bells can be a handy tool for working out, maybe try freecycle or gumtree, there tends to be loads of people that have found that after they bought them that they wernt quite what they were hoping to be

well i went to the dr's yesterday but because of the state of my leg i didnt get this assessment thing that they want, so i have had another appointment made for me :)

have been out on the bike and a wee walk ( the night i got bit) but thats about it since i last wrote, have been eating not too bad but havnt weighed myself as i am trying not to get hung up about the weight, i did notice when i walked that although i still struggle up the steps at the nature walk, i am still managing them in the one go and it is ever so slightly easier, not great but easier :)

Kettlebells are great, but I'd advise going to at least one class as they're also easy to hurt yourself with if you do the wrong techniques!
