Hi all,

have been on and off this board for a while now, have my own diary on the dfw board and have noticed that since i started a 100 month financial challenge things have got so much better, with this in mind i have decided to try and see if having a 100 week health challenge will have the same effect.

I've tried so many things and whilst some have deff helped i still find myself in this same situation ( although slightly better than before)

I'm not sure if diaries are allowed on here but i hope they are, i did try on another site but had issues with posting etc, it was also a U.S site so whilst helpful there were differences.

Ok the goal: i want to be a much healthier me, this will be a two step process, one nutrition and two exercise,

One : I am aiming for a low carbish style living, i know some dont agree with low carb and others love it, i find it ok, i was a vegetarian before but have managed to get back to meat eating ( this is how much i really want to deal with my health) as i work nights i am also going to be taking supplements, vit e for antioxidants, vit d3 for lack of sun and bones, vit c another anti oxidant and melatonin to try and replace the lack of it that happens as you get older and work shifts, i will also be taking lecithin for brain function and taurine for brain function ( more on that as the diary progresses i am sure) and finally cinnamon for blood sugar levels, incidentally i am addicted to sugar, just to make things more complicated.

two: exercise, now i love to move but due to work etc i find it hard, i find it hard to have any energy, this is something i will need to drastically up

so anyway i am looking forward to the 100 weeks and looking forward to the person i will become, maybe i should weigh and measure myself

ps my challenge starts today and finishes April 20th 2015 ...

wish me luck

I probably should join you, but my motivation is fairly pants at the moment, so I can cheer from the sidelines if I may, and think about joining in eventually.

But I really do need to lose two stones,

    good luck

thanks elmer it will be good to have company, i'm going to be honest, its going to be a slow change for me as i want this to be a total change and i dont want to go back to where i currently am ever again, this is the reason i have given myself 100weeks, i have 5 stone to loose so it is going to be a long slow slog, but having company will always be welcome :)

well today i had a carby breakfast, porridge with fibre, flaxseeds ( to help ye olde bowel move) , sunflower seeds and a handful of dates, for lunch i have had nuts and cheese ( brie, boursin, la roule, and blue danish) and for dinner i have had home made chicken burgers with salad, i have had two caffeinated coffees with milk and one non caffeinated coffee and approx 2 ltrs of water,

i havnt done much excercise ... infact very little to be honest as i have been running around here and there dealing with ill family members, when i came home mr el was out running ... i am so envious of him getting out and about ,

i'm going to do the dishes tidy up a bit and if i have time i will get a wee shot with the weights and maybe the trampoline before bed

i couldve done much better today but i need to remember this is a 100 week turnaround and i need to be prepared for that

My problem is that my exercise is limited to my deciding I will do it tomorrow, every morning!

The weights sound good and the trampoline sounds like fun, I think even I could manage a small bounce every now and then.

    Keep up the good intentions

Ooh, a shiny new diary. I ill 'attempt' to join you in this El. I could do to lose about a stone and a half (approximately). I need to stop smoking again and I need to exercise more. I work odd hours too-mainly nights, so would really benefit from taking more care of myself.
Unfortunately I have really bad habits. I smoke about 10-15 a day, skip breakfast, and often skip lunch too. :o I have stopped several times but then, when I'm stressed I start again. :o
We had a takeaway for tea tonight too.
I always say tomorrow but tomorrow never arrives.
So today I've had about 6 cups of tea-milk, no sugar and a glass of coke and a Chinese meal. Not the best start is it!

I've found that walking is a good way to start, because it's low impact and surprisingly relaxing. As long as you wear the right gear, even cold or rainy walks can be pleasurable. It helps if you have a dog as motivation though, unless you are lucky enough to live somewhere with some nice walks nearby.

I think I need to work on getting some exercise-I get loads at work, but only go on walks occasionally. I did ...2 sit ups tonight-lol, must get Mr tc to get involved too.
That said, we need to eat more healthily... I'm torn really. If truth be known I don't know where to start.

Whatever you do, you need some motivation behind it to make you want to do it. On a nice day it's easy to find the motivation, because the pay-off is the pleasure of walking in the sunshine. On a rainy day, it takes more effort.

If there is a nice pub a couple of miles away from you, that could be your motivation: a walk, with a reward of a pint at the end. ;)

Now that sounds like a plan! I like this idea-though I might have a voddy instead of a pint. :)
