Tabby - Well done on cutting down the smoking, that's a great start on the road to health and well-being.
Chucking down with rain and have a mega busy day - but first - right now :rotfl::rotfl: I'm going to have a go on the exercise bike, then some yoga then a beautify......0 -

Only managed 0.75 kms on exercise bike, thought my right knee was going to lock. Think I need to go back on the glucosomine. Will try again today, maybe put a support bandage on. Maybe the bike is not the right thing for now.
I know I should walk but it is very hilly where I am currently living and I'm struggling to walk far. Perhaps I should think about a treadmill.
I feel that I've got a long way to go before I attain any semblance of fitness.
I can manage yoga type exercise but that isn't cardio or weight bearing.
Going to have to think about it........0 -
Lesson don't push your knee it will come back to haunt you, when I first got shin splints I carried on, wish I had left it till they healed now as its taking longer to recover, can you maybe work on your upper half whilst your lower half recovers ?
Sorry I have been missing everyone, have been working nights and getting ready for my holidays, I had also written a post then tried to post it but it timed out ( the joys of using a mobile phone )
I'm having a bad time eating just now, I have had these lumps appear in my okster for years around the time I tend to get lost in a sugar cycle, I've always thought that it was the sugar that set them off , this time however I had the lumps then two days later got this really strong sugar craving that I just couldn't defeat, the next day I notice my boobs were sore, and then it dawned on me ... I had forgotten to take my evening primrose oil ( the lumps usually do appear around about that time of the month a well )
So I am a bit more aware now of that but will need to keep on top of it
We go away on Saturday and I just know that I am Going to struggle so will need to find a way to deal with that as well
Keep going everyone ...
Incidentally do we set a start date? or do we want to set a start date ? Or will we just have the start date from the day the thread started ?0 -

I was enjoying the fab weather, sooo it was too hot to cycle!!!!;)
And then we had a BBQ, double whammy for the 100 wk challenge.
Good for the soul though and so nice to be able to sit and enjoy the sunshine.
There's always today.....

It was too hot to cycle wasn't it, BBQ's can be ok .. As long as you don't go overboard ... And that's where I struggle lol0 -
Been working and tend to hardly eat on work days. Sometimes I go all day with no food then I have a couple of slices of toast and a quick bite at work... It's not really a good way of being healthy but that's usually how it goes for me. Got a couple of days off now.

Enjoy your jollys El.
Look after yourself Lesson- slow and steady wins the race and all that.
I think start date should be from thread start El.

Not done much in the way of exercise today-unless I can count the many trips up and down stairs fetching and carrying washing.

We did have a healthy evening meal though-grilled chicken with jacket potato and salad. I had mine with salad cream instead of mayo as it's less calorific.

Hiya Elantan and others,
Just wanted to say what a fabulous thread this is and I think you're very brave for posting on here to get your commitment written down and supported by others in a similar situation (like me!).
I have managed to get on track a bit more now myself, but still have a long way to go...
I hope you don't mind me poking in my little snout with a suggestion that can benefit more than just a need for exercise...? Well, even if you DO mind, I'll chuck it out there anyway...
Do you have an elderly or less-physically-mobile neighbour with a dog? If you, you could volunteer to walk the dog two or three times per week. It's a great excuse for a walk and helps everyone out (including the dog) - and it could just be 20 mins around the local streets armed with a doggy-bag; it doesn't have to be a two-hour romp over hills and dales...
When my beloved Jasper was dying last year (before his time), I volunteered for The Cinnamon Trust - http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/home.php in the selfish hope that doing good deeds might buy the poor lad one or two extra months (it didn't; he died anyway) BUT I was paired with a little elderly Yorkie whose owner was very frail and housebound. Three extra 20 mins of gentle walks for me per week, plus exercise for the dog and someone to say "hello" to for a really delightful elderly gentleman. Everyone's a winner! For a lot of these housebound and less-mobile folks their dog can be their sole main companion and source of love and comfort. It's a good feeling inside (as well as the benefits of additional exercise) to be able to give a little bit of support.
Anyway just a thought. Keep going Elantan and TattyKath and everyone else. I know it can seem SO difficult - but it is worth it and of you keep going you WILL get there.
Keep smiling! xx0
