Bought a new mower this morning which is much lighter so I can do the garden when DH is not here. We also got a strimmer to make edging easier, so this afternoon we have finished cutting the grass and strimmed. We also swept the paths so everywhere looks so much better.

Washed the sheets this morning which are now dry and ready to go back on the bed. 2nd load of washing is out and will probably smell of BBQs by the time next door have finished. It is meant to be nice tomorrow too so I will put the darks on tonight ready for the morning.

Started on the dinner, sweet potatoes in the oven baking and will start cooking the steaks soon. Looking forward to a posh kind of dinner that really didn't cost anything at all.

Tomorrow we are planning on having a drive out for a bit but I might suggest being here for the grand prix and sort a few boxes at the same time.

Opto mum Did I read that right - a couple of your relatives visited you and one of them whinged about your place? How very dare they! She can have a virtual slap from me for being rude.

Ionafan Have you made the bed yet? You seem such a keen cook that the chances are you are going to end up spending all your time in the kitchen getting ready for the dinner. Then you'll end up after the guests have gone remembering that you haven't made it. I know, because I've done it myself so many times.

I've been allocating time-consuming jobs at the rate of one a week in my diary for a few weeks and thus catching up with outstanding baby frogs. It takes a week for me to think up solutions to the problems that are stopping me from just getting on with them in the first place, and I *think* I've just finished dealing with this week's task.

Next week's is Chapter 10 and I've been putting that one off for 21 months. I am not looking forward to it.
    Better is good enough.
  • THUD - have now collapsed in a heap. Back garden is done and the front has been tidied. The garden wheelie bin can't hold any more so seems like a good place to stop. Was backbreaking moving all the gravel back onto the driveway stone by stone, but it was worth it.

Car is loaded with junk for the tip tomorrow. DS has another Tournament next weekend, so hopefully the last of the barn gibble will go to the tip then. DD and OH painted some walls in the barn and workshop, helped by the dog. My little black friend now has white stripes and fuschia pink ears :rotfl:

BBC Weather is predicting "glorious" for tomorrow, so hopefully we'll be back in time for me to remove the drainage covers, clear out all the leaves and gravel and replace. Will put DS and DD onto the flat roof tomorrow to clear the moss.

Now going to hoover the mattress before putting fresh bedding on and have a G&T in the back garden  feel free to join me

yes hun you did read it right ... im used to it most family members stick their nose in where its not wanted its only the very few that don't actually come to think of it the only member that doesn't comment on the house other than good things or the way i bring my son up other than good things is my grandma all the rest seem to think they have the right to tell me right from wrong ... i may only be 20 but im not stupid .... if i may say so myself i think im very mature compared to a lot of family members from both sides and i've got my head screwed on .... i just let them carry on ,,, its their problem they have a problem with it it doesn't bother me lol

I'll join you Pigpen. I'm finding the last push to deal with this week's Task difficult. HH Tired Fling will do it.

Shattered after a busier week than usual and home all on my ownsome, apart from DogStar. She's as much use as a chocolate teapot on guard duties so I probably won't sleep brilliantly well tonight. I'm going to light my Jo Malone candle and have a bubble bath. I may well retire to bed with a good book and a cup of cocoa. :D

Night all, hugs, spoons (I guessed right) and sticks (I never knew about them!) P.R.N. God bless. x

Thanks for the reminder HoneyBear - yes, it's done. The chicken is in the over, the potatoes are boiling and the other veg are either roasting or waiting to be steamed for just 5 minutes. The raspberries are defrosting (all whoopsied over the past few weeks!), the cream is in the jug and the cheeseboard and biscuits are ready. Wine is in the fridge or not, as per colour - I am not a connoisseur of wine but I do know my red from my white! :D

I have decided to make these meals as simple as possible - the company is more important than a fancy menu. I think everything is under control tonight except DH's BD which has returned with a vengeance. I have a feeling that farewell dinners entice it back :(

Our friends should be here any minute now, so I'd best dash..... See you all tomorrow.
