I stock up and don't charge my buyers though.
Don't suppose you pay income tax on your sales either do you?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -

No, why would I? I only ever list things hanging around the house.
I think I'm missing something in why paying income tax on sales would make me more inclined to charge the buyer for the envelope. Sorry if the answer is obviousIf you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
I can't advise you - but if the seller is reading this:-
REPORT THE BUYER FOR TRYING TO CHANGE THE PRICE AND FEEDBACK EXTORSION - its time to clamp down on scam buyers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

You should give the seller positive feedback and 5 stars.0 -

If OP has not mentioned feedback then there is no feedback extortion.
Anyway, you know as well as the rest of us that sellers who routinely overcharge p and p or who believe that buyers are mugs who must pay for their bus fares, cab fares, time etc don't last long .
The overcharge isn't massive here, but it won't take a lot of low stars to get them suspended. It is a foolish seller who doesn't understand thatI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Trip to Poundland for me would involve 20 minute round car journey, £1 parking, 20 minute walk from car park and back, time spent in the shop and the money spent on a load of rubbish I don't actually need (very few people go in that kind of shop just buy what they need).
Trip to Tesco is again a 20 minute car journey and the store is massive, packed with people and their screaming kids making the trip a big headache.
I would rather buy one in the Post Office for a pound than suffer all that to save a few pence.
My nan lives in the mountains in Wales, no Poundlands anywhere and Tesco is a 55 mile round trip.
You can't assume everyone has easy access or the spare time to find cheap jiffy bags.
£1.40 excluding any packaging isn't that bad and the £4 is also within the P&P cap for the category, relax and enjoy the DVDs you've ordered at an overall price you were happy to pay:)In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

On ebay they cost around 9-10p delivered, even less if you buy in bulk.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Proper JL1 jiffy bags cost me 8.25p each (inl VAT) at 2000 a time, even when I was buying 14,000 at a time delivered straight out the factory in Germany there wasn't much to be saved.
The top listing on eBay's Best Match shows £1 for 1, 24p each for 10 or 17p each for 20 and that assumes you have 10 or 20 items of the same size to sell and don't need 7 different size of jiffy bags, boxes or mailers for the random stuff you clear out the house.
You make the assumption the average private seller is a professional private seller, i.e fully clued up, often it's the opposite and if that's not good then boot them off but please don't moan about less interesting items on eBay and less bargains to be had.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Because what no-one is pointing out here is the conflicting views of business sellers and private sellers. There is a big difference between the two. But here, you cross the line, saying packaging is cheap if you buy it in multiples. So you are blurring the line between business seller and private.
A private seller is likely to pay more than you are quoting for packaging as they are not selling in bulk so you are being unfair.
Equally, a business seller has other costs which DO count - they are trying to earn a living. But some people are having this argument both ways.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. good_advice wrote: »Hi. I have just bought a box set of dvds and are very pleased to have won the bid.
The postage however is a different story...
I paid £4 p&p. The envelope says postage paid £2.60 and for the envelope would suggest 20p = total postage to seller £2.80.
I have asked for a part refund of £1.20 for the over charge on postage.
The seller wants to give me a total refund for dvds and postage as long as I send the dvds back at my expense.
I wish to keep the dvd box set and just have the part refund of postage of £1.20.
What should I do?
You complete & utter tightwad!!! I only buy on eBay now & guess what? I read what the p&p is BEFORE I bid.
It's postage AND packaging, and also time and money to get to the PO, or do you think the parcel magics itself there all on its' own?Noli nothis permittere te terere
