Are the derivatives regulated? No. Are you still getting growth in derivatives? Yes.”
but why are they not regulated? They should be.0 -
but with logic like this what chance sensible decisions:
"data showing U.S. manufacturing sector contracted in May prompted investors to return back to the market" :rotfl:
I hope there is more bad news today.
"US loses 100000 jobs, investors jump in in the hope of more money printing"
I might get richI believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -

Today's market falls are interesting given that Mondays, especially Mondays when it's also the first trading day of month, usually start off with gains.
Were they then selling when everyone was buying?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. This is certainly my experience so far. It didn't help when the local shop didn't have first class stamps for posting the forms, only second. I was thinking to myself, that fact alone will likely make a difference of £500 or so either way to me with these daily 1%(ish) swings in the market....
Note, I say swings, but 1% obviously isn't too much of a swing these days. The market moves this amount either way and the journalists pick out a positive, or negative, news story and highlight that as the reason for the movement when 1% movements are really just noise.
It isn't until the movement approaches 3% either way on a given day that there is likely to be a significant underlying news story that explains the movement.0 -
Can't you put 2 second class stamps on, to get first class delivery?0

Depends on the thickness and size.
I have had birthday cards with badges on that have been rejected as too thick necessitating an excess charge to be paid."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
"big business is parasitic, like a mosquito, whereas I prefer the lighter touch, like that of a butterfly. "A butterfly can suck honey from the flower without damaging it," "Arunachalam Muruganantham0 -

Wasn't aware of that but you probably can. Although I've received letters with multiple stamps before where one wasn't even stamped out - so maybe it doesn't make a difference.
That being said, I wasn't too panicked about it with the way the markets been behaving. We aren't in an uptrend anymore - for now....0 -

I am hanging on to my losers but am 90% in cash. Waiting for the big one to strike, if not now after the summer would be prime for a black Monday in September or October.
So rather than feeling wobbly I am glad to get nothing on my money knowing it is safe.
I should add this is a personal decision based on what I think will happen, basically a 10% to 20% correction by the end of Q4 this year. If I am wrong and everyone else is right then I get the booby prize.
It is your money and you alone are responsible for protecting your capital.0 -

No, my next drip feed happens in a few more days, so this month I will get marginally more for my money than I did last month.IANAL etc.0
