An analyst just told me that the current yield on the S&P 500 as of last night is 1.94%. If correct, it certainly puts things in perspective?

The S&P 500 has always tended to yield less than the FTSE 100 and it actually got as low as 1.11% in 2000 when the markets were over-heating.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
This is only the start if everyone heads for the exit on mass. Greed and fear. Which one will win? Buy the dips at all time highs with the summer coming up? Watch wall street this afternoon, if there is fear there it will spread like wildfire.0

It's always the on mass run on the money that causes such a crash.. I would not be surprised if that was the case!
I think you are right, the next opening of US and Nikkei will determine the next course of action...
But even in 2000 lot of investors made money... Just put a spread bet on loss and you are still onto a winner:D0 -
My brother shorted the DOW in 2008, he made a bucket load, only to lose it all again when he got too cocky.0

It can turn into addictive gambling very quickly, especially if there is lucky newbie win involved:D0
