Is the stock market over heating?

Lots of red numbers today, but the Nikkei is still higher than it was a week ago. There will still be a lot of people buying up these shares that have dropped.
Glastoun you illustrate well the false confidence that a bull market breeds. Firstly your statement is not true. And based on it you can see no alternative but for a return to the upside
Now longer term, very long it is true the markets go up, but they can turn downwards for relatively long periods as well. Buyer beware me thinks :cool:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -

If I was buying something I'd prefer to buy it cheaper than more expensive.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
OMG! I didn't realise that at first!! How lucky is that guy??:rotfl:
I looked at my L&G UK tracker yesterday and thought about cashing it in... it is held outside an ISA. But I didn't as I thought I will do it closer to standing order day to my H&L account and now I am kicking myself...
Wonder how quickly will the effect show?
Last time I amended one of those it took ages (direct with L&G), I had to ring them up because nothing was happening, they said someone had to authorise it etc, not so good when the markets are tumbling'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Yep you're right, Bloomberg and Yahoo charts don't show the drop yet - it's still a lot higher than it was when I put money in, and I'm not in as much as I was a few months ago.
I can see other alternatives, I'm just stating what I think will happen, same as everyone else - been seeing big drops and rises on Japanese shares for a while, and I don't think the paradigm has shifted hugely in the last 24 hours so will see where we are in the middle of next week.
I predict it will be a Wednesday.0 -
Not that I am watching, you understand...
The FTAS is down 1.8%, and my MSCI World Minimum Volatility ETF is off 4.2%.
Do you think I can ask for my money back?;)
Second thoughts, it's still in profit, so maybe not. Not exactly Ronseal though!"Things are never so bad they can't be made worse" - Humphrey Bogart0 -
Oh well it can't all be bad
My Portfolio's up 0.30% today

I was contemplating a trade yesterday ( a sale) but didn't go ahead as I changed my settlement acct recently and it hasn't taken effect.
Guess I'll hold off for a bit lol.
But all my regular investments will hopefully be buying more units this month! The one I sold usually buys in on the 25th of the month0 -
Oh, no, this is awful! The FTSE 100 is back to where it was a week ago!
Panic! Panic!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Panic! Panic!
I've decided to cash in some equity holdings in next week that have performed exceptionally well. So you've had advance warning.0
