I saw that you mentioned high telephone call costs in an early post. When my DH was working abroad I signed up with 18185.com. Calls to his mobile from a landline cost 6p per minute when he was in France and Italy (it cost more for him to receive the call than it cost me to make it). If I'd been calling a landline it would have been even cheaper.0

Thanks Joolz- but haven't got a landline :-(0

Too impatient to wait for payday or August to come round and just transferred another £500 over to the mortgage. ?. Really shouldn't as my job situation as of August is anything but clear but I reckoned that A) it's all gonna work out just fine and
I have enough savings to keep me afloat for a while anyway
Also just had 3 NSD in a row and today is looking good so far too. £ co has tracked £200 for me- once that's paid out it's straight over to the mortgage pot....

Hello resilie, just wanted to pop in and say hello and good luck with your OPing, not that you need it, you're chucking huge amounts at it!
Has your lodger turned off her heater yet? I had a similar one that took hour long baths every morning and did the heater and open windows trick too. I felt so uncomfortable in my own home so I had to ask her to leave in the end and got a torrent of abuse back. It was definitely good riddence but I still get nightmares that she's moved back in!:o
I do miss her rent money though, it must be great to put yours to such good use!

Hi Floppy
Thanks for your post.... lodger is much better behaved these days but I'll need to have stern words before winter rolls in again..... part of the problem is thst I've never been good at telling people off..... I hope I'll have a good 2 months before havimg that talk to ramp up the momentum

My inpatience strickes again- have transferred a total of £1500 to the mortgage for August already though pay cheque this month won't be as jucy as usual as between two jobs but I can't help it

Positive note is that I got the job I wanted :j it pays less than my current one but there are no nights or weekends to work so that's a bonus and I can always do the odd extra shift here and there.... also my other plan would have been to take a year out and go back to uni which woukd have been an even bigger blow to the finances... overall very happy how things have turned out
Further news: lodger is moving out!!! Will need to find new lodger preferably one without an electric heater- can you stipulate that in a tennacy agreement????
Garden veg is coming alomg nicely- maybe too nicely- anyone got any good courgette recipes? ???
Updating signature now- £135 076 -BOOM :T0 -
Congratulations on the new job.
I think you can set whatever rules you like with your new lodger.
No one in my house eats courgettes except me. For lunch I slice them lengthways and chargrill in the George Foreman with a sprinkle of something spicy - maybe with a spritz of olive oil. Then bulk up with a bit of couscous and various other veg things I find in the bottom of the fridge. Blob of chilli sauce and I am awayI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

So the search for a new lodger has started in earnest... put one online ad up but not much interest so far.... anyone with lodgers where have you found best to advertise? Maybe the room is too expensive or it's the wrong time of year... not sure0
